Did ‘Ride the Wind 2024’ Copy BLACKPINK’s Coachella Stage?
“Ride the Wind 2024″is facing allegations of imitating BLACKPINK’s 2023 Coachella performance of “Typa Girl”for one of their own stages.
The group’s rendition of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now”with a 1920s flapper theme quickly captivated fans. For their upcoming 2023 Coachella performance, BLACKPINK has chosen to remix “Typa Girl”with the same flapper aesthetic, incorporating striking choreography and a set adorned with large white feathers.
It was particularly noticeable on Zhang Yuxi’s part as she not only incorporated feathers in a similar manner to Jennie’s performance at BLACKPINK’s Coachella show, but her dance moves were also reminiscent of Jennie’s.
“The organizers of “Ride the Wind 2024″faced swift accusations of plagiarizing the concept, resulting in disappointment among fans of the show. Numerous individuals spoke out against Mango TV and the show’s producers, urging them to refrain from copying famous international artists’ dance routines and stage designs.”
Several comments are reading,
- “The choreography and production team of ‘Ride the Wind 2024’ should take their work more seriously. Don’t just copy from others.”
- “Why does it look like a copy of a K-pop stage?”
- “Did the quality of ‘Ride the Wind’ go down? Even the stage ideas are borrowed.”
Despite the criticism, there were also those who came to the defense of the producers, pointing out that the use of feathers as stage props is not a new concept in the music industry. Furthermore, although there were similarities in the dance routines, they were not exact replicas. Hence, it would be difficult to definitively state that “Ride the Wind 2024″directly copied the idea from BLACKPINK.
Currently, the producer of the Chinese show has not made any statements regarding the controversy.
