Heartfelt Memories

During the candid discussion, Choi Daniel opened up about his poignant childhood experiences. He shared, “My mom passed away when I was four. My older brother is six years older than me. So when I was four, my brother was in elementary school, and that’s when our mom passed away.” This admission revealed the profound impact of loss at such a young age.

Struggles and Resilience

Choi further explained the challenges his family faced after the loss. “My dad was very busy because he had to raise the two of us alone. We needed at least the bare necessities, so he was incredibly busy. I also started working at an early age and I’ve been living alone since I was 20. So the time to express those feelings kind of passed me by. Now that I’m older, I try to do it more,” he noted, highlighting the resilience he had to develop early on.

School Memories and Financial Struggles

Reflecting on his school years, Choi Daniel recalled his struggles with finances, particularly regarding school uniforms. “When I was in school, school uniforms were so expensive. Back then, there was this famous brand called Ivy Club. I couldn’t afford that brand. I ended up buying my uniform from a place near the school, like Samil Uniforms or something like that or I’d wear hand-me-downs from the school.” His experiences paint a vivid picture of the financial challenges many face during their formative years.

Childhood Mishaps

Choi humorously recounted a school lunch incident that resulted in a minor conflict with a friend: “My school uniform was white. That’s why I hated playing around in my uniform as a kid. Because if it got stained while playing, it’d be a problem the next day. We used to eat school lunches in the classroom. There was this friend of mine, and we’d sit across from each other while eating lunch. We were joking around and he accidentally flicked something. Soy sauce from his braised potatoes splattered onto my uniform. We were close, but we ended up fighting over it.” This tale showcases the innocence of childhood amidst the challenges he faced.

Current Projects

Currently, Choi Daniel stars alongside Jeon So-min in the KBS Joy drama “Sorry Not Sorry,” which has been gaining attention. Their collaboration not only marks a significant moment in their careers but also provides fans with a deeper insight into their personalities and life stories.
