On the February 12 episode of KBS2’s acclaimed reality show “The Return of Superman, ” viewers witnessed a historic moment as actress Song Seon-mi made her debut alongside her 11-year-old daughter, Ari. This marked the first instance in the show’s history of showcasing a single mother and her child.

Upon entering the studio, fellow cast member Choi Ji-woo expressed her excitement and nervousness, stating, “I shouldn’t be sitting and greeting like this. She’s my senior from Busan Dukmoon Girls’ High School.” Ji-woo fondly recalled her past experiences, including playing “Manito”with one of Song Seon-mi’s close friends.

A Humble Reflection

In a moment of humility, Song Seon-mi reflected on their high school days, saying, “There were many pretty girls back then. In Ji-woo’s year, she was the only one who stood out. In my year, there were about ten beautiful girls. I was just one of them.” Her modesty certainly resonated with the audience.

Song Seon-mi has been married to a film art director whom she met through mutual friends. They welcomed their daughter, Ari, in 2015, nine years into their marriage. Now in fourth grade, Ari joined the show, with Song Seon-mi describing her as “a loving and considerate child.”

Ari’s nurturing nature shines through, as she is known for her thoughtful care toward her mother. During the broadcast, it was noted that Ari possesses impressive artistic talent. When a comment suggested she may have inherited her skills from her father, an art teacher, Song Seon-mi playfully responded, “I had artistic talent as a child too, ” thus claiming a part in the family’s creative lineage.
