The Pokémon Go Legendary Heroes Timed Research challenge features two distinct branches, each attracting a different assortment of Pokémon through Incense.
Scheduled to begin on September 26, 2024, the Pokémon Go Legendary Heroes event will spotlight the Galar region. This event will mark the debut of Shiny Zacian and provide trainers with the opportunity to catch the Galarian variant of Weezing.
Niantic has also revealed plans for a branched Timed Research challenge named after the Pokémon Sword & Shield games, which are set in the Galar region.

Which one should you choose?
From a competitive perspective, the Sword Path provides significantly greater advantages, making it the recommended option for players looking to maximize their event experience.
Hydreigon, the final evolution of Deino, ranks among the top 50 Pokémon in Master League competition, according to PvPoke. Additionally, Passimian is a solid choice for this format. Slurpuff, the evolved form of Swirlix, is also a top-140 Pokémon in Ultra League and stands out as one of the best Fairy-types available.
In Ultra League, Oranguru is quite effective, ranking #78 according to PvPoke. Furthermore, gathering enough Larvitar can lead to acquiring the powerful Tyranitar, particularly in console games.
However, Tyranitar does not fare well in Master League due to several Pokémon, such as Palkia and Gyarados, having type advantages that can exploit the Dark/Rock-type’s weaknesses.
