On February 5th, a noteworthy press conference took place for TVING’s anticipated original series, The Scandal of Chunhwa, hosted at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. The event featured the talented director, Lee Kwang-young, alongside key cast members including Go Ara, Chang Ryul, Kang Chan-hee, Son Woo-hyeon, and Han Seung-yeon.

Plot Overview

The series centers on Princess Hwa-ri, portrayed by Go Ara, as she embarks on a quest to discover true love following the heartache of her first romantic involvement. Her journey leads her to interact with the city’s renowned playboy, Hwan, played by Chang Ryul, and the most sought-after bachelor, Jang Won, portrayed by Kang Chan-hee.

Character Insights from Han Seung-yeon

During the press event, Han Seung-yeon, who takes on the role of Lee Ji-won, characterized her character as a blend of beauty and intellect, albeit somewhat clumsy in matters of love. She humorously acknowledged her character’s predicament in navigating romantic scenarios.

Han stated, “Due to my public image, there may be skepticism about my ability to portray this role. However, I have been an adult since my debut, ” prompting laughter among the attendees. She elaborated on the intimate scenes in the series, emphasizing that they are integral to its narrative arc.“I’ve worked closely with the director and my co-stars to ensure these scenes are executed beautifully. I hope audiences appreciate them as a part of the overall charm of the story, ” she added.

Further, Han explained, “Ji-won embodies a dual nature—at times, she is astute, while at other moments, she is delightfully awkward. I hope viewers find joy in these contradictions.”

Reflecting on the storyline, Go Ara remarked, “Certain elements of romance necessitate a 19+ rating. From a content viewpoint, this rating was essential.” She further stated, “I chose to be part of this project because the script struck me as innovative, and its underlying message resonated deeply with me.”
