Black Butler: The Four Prefects reveal the shocking truth to Ciel Phantomhive

In episode 10 of Black Butler season 4, the flashback scenes from the previous episode continue as the Prefects witness Derrick Arden and his friends mercilessly bullying a pair of students. The boy’s demeanor shifts as his hidden secret is uncovered.

Despite feeling no remorse for his actions, the boy confesses to bullying others as a way to release his pent-up frustration. As the successor to a highly esteemed marquessate, he is expected to become the next Prefect of Weston College, although he is not fond of the school.

Despite the boy’s hope that the Prefects would overlook his actions, Herman Greenhill shouts at him and warns that he will report the incident to the Vice Principal. Coincidentally, the Vice Principal appears at that exact moment.

The tenth episode of Black Butler season 4 exposes Greenhill’s role as an accomplice in Derrick Arden’s atrocious acts. The overwhelming gravity of the situation causes him to lose his composure and rational thinking. Fueled by a surge of emotions, he grabs a cricket bat and strikes Derrick, ultimately ending his life.

The vice headmaster attempted to flee, but the other Prefects managed to catch him. In a fit of rage, Herman also takes his own life, as well as the lives of Derrick’s other friends who were involved. Greenhill is consumed by guilt and shame once he regains his senses.

Despite this, Lawrence, Redmond, and Gregory reassure him that it was the only course of action. As the Prefects of Weston College, they collectively choose to take on the responsibility of Greenhill’s transgression with honor and safeguard the reputation of their institution.

Based on the events of Black Butler season 4 episode 10, a rumor was spread that the headmaster would be embarking on a trip around the world and would not return until the following autumn. Additionally, in collaboration with the Aurora society, a plan was devised to resurrect the deceased and conceal the sinister reality.

Black Butler Season 4 Episode 10: Lawrence’s Defense and Undertaker’s Revelation

After the flashback, the present is resumed in Black Butler season 4 episode 10. Lawrence Bluewer takes responsibility for their crime, but also justifies the Prefect’s actions, stating that they were necessary to maintain the school’s tradition and order.

Despite Lawrence’s words, Ciel Phantomhive remains unaffected. In contrast, Undertaker finds the situation entertaining, a sentiment that Sebastian surprisingly shares.

Lawrence, determined to stand his ground, goes on to defend his stance, firmly stating that his generation cannot risk tarnishing the longstanding tradition that has been carefully safeguarded for centuries since the establishment of the school.

Despite this, Ciel informs him that he can no longer remain silent now that the truth has been revealed. As a result, he plans to take necessary actions to address their situation. Afterward, Ciel inquires about Undertaker’s true intentions.

In Black Butler season 4 episode 10, the Grim Reaper delivers a monologue to Ciel and the others, discussing how his research allowed him to create reanimated corpses that have the ability to endlessly pursue living humans.

It seems that Undertaker is interested in exploring the concept of death beyond its predetermined fate, as he seeks to revive the deceased. On the other hand, Sebastian finds the idea of death’s ultimate conclusion to be more captivating.

As Sebastian showcases his formidable abilities to vanquish the rampaging monsters and safeguard Ciel and the others, chaos ensues in episode 10 of Black Butler season 4. Amidst the turmoil, Undertaker manages to slip away. Meanwhile, Ciel is informed by Edward, the Drudge of Herman Greenhill, that all individuals have been successfully evacuated.

Following his realization in Black Butler season 4 episode 10, Ciel Phantomhive presents his report to the queen. As a result, the Four Prefects are expelled from the school in order to cover up the scandal. Ciel, however, believes that this punishment is a fate worse than death for those who prioritized upholding the school’s traditions over the value of human life.

Despite the accidental deaths of Derrick and his friends from a boating mishap, their disappearance from the school is explained away and their bodies are covertly buried. In the meantime, the Drudges who served under the previous Prefects are chosen as the new Prefects of Weston College.

Curiously, Ciel Phantomhive brings to the queen’s attention the existence of a reanimated corpse. The queen then requests that the boy investigate the matter further. Upon successfully solving the case, Ciel returns home.

During their trip home, Ciel is informed by Sebastian that a postman had delivered a message for him. However, Ciel instructs his butler to dispose of it as he has no intention of going back to the oppressive Weston College.

Afterward, he makes his way back to his manor and observes a group of sheep gathered near the property. Meanwhile, the Queen reflects on the words spoken by Ciel Phantomhive.

Despite her concerns about potential attacks from monsters, the Queen’s aide, John Brown, assures her that he will defend her. The final scene of Black Butler season 4 episode 10 leaves the Queen with a thought that it would be wonderful if these creatures could become her allies.
