This meeting is especially important as it took place before the 15th anniversary of 2NE1, a four-member girl group under YG Entertainment.
According to reliable sources in the entertainment industry, CL, the leader of 2NE1, and Yang Hyun-suk, the producer of the group, recently reunited after a long period of time and engaged in a lengthy conversation. As reported, the dinner between the two individuals ended up lasting much longer than initially intended.
Despite the details of their discussion remaining undisclosed, it is known that 2NE1 commemorated their 15th year since their debut on May 17th. It can be assumed that their rendezvous held significant meaning, particularly due to CL’s strong attachment to 2NE1.
The ambitious launch of 2NE1 by YG in 2009 included members CL, Park Bom, Sandara Park, and Gong Minzy. The group gained immense popularity with hits such as “Fire”, “Don’t Cry”, “Lonely”, “I Am the Best”, “Hate You”, and “Ugly”, solidifying their position as top-tier artists in both domestic and international markets. In May 2016, Gong Minzy’s exclusive contract ended and the group officially concluded their activities on November 25th, 2016. Their last release was the digital single “Goodbye”, which was released on January 21st, 2017.
To commemorate 2NE1’s 15th anniversary, CL pleasantly surprised fans by uploading group pictures on her social media account on May 17th. The photos featured all members and marked the first time in approximately 2 years that the group has shared such photos since their reunion performance at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Other members also shared nostalgic photos on their official accounts, showcasing their enduring camaraderie.
In 2022, 2NE1 gained attention for being the first Korean girl group to grace the main stage at Coachella. Their reunion performance, after a 7-year hiatus, showcased their lasting influence and worldwide appeal. Fans are eagerly anticipating a potential full-group reunion following their recent meeting with Yang Hyun-suk, and are curious about what form it may take.
YG Entertainment responded by saying that they are unable to verify the specifics of this issue.
