On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the official staff hosted a livestream for the MF Bunko J Summer School Festival 2024. At the event, they revealed that a fourth season of the Classroom of the Elite anime is currently being produced and will cover the Year 2 sequel light novels.
Despite the lack of information on the release date, cast, staff, and production studio for Classroom of the Elite season 4, fans are eagerly anticipating this highly-anticipated sequel to the previous installment. The previous season premiered on January 3, 2024, for 13 episodes and was globally streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. As we await for more news, fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming season.
New Teaser Visual
At the event, the staff also revealed a teaser visual for the upcoming fourth season of Classroom of the Elite. The teaser prominently showcases Kiyotaka Ayanokoji in his second year, as well as introducing new first-year students in their school uniforms, adding to the intrigue surrounding the new season.
The Japanese version of the visual also features a catchphrase which, when translated into English, reads as follows:
Among them is an assassin from the White Room, who is after Ayanokoji.
Adaptation and Staff
The upcoming fourth season of Classroom of the Elite will cover the Year 2 (First Semester) arc from Syogo Kinugasa’s sequel light novels. In other words, it will adapt volumes 1 to 4.5 out of the 12.5 total volumes that have been released.
Surprisingly, the sequel’s cast, main staff, and production studio have been kept under wraps by the staff, leaving fans to speculate.
The anime’s initial season premiered in 2017, deviating from the source material. Studio Lerche was responsible for the production of both the second and third seasons, which were announced jointly. The third season’s release date was postponed from 2023 to January 2024. It remains unclear if Studio Lerche, the studio behind the previous season, will continue their involvement in the production of Classroom of the Elite season 4.
Season 4: What To Expect
The anime is based on Shogo Kinugasa’s light novel, which is also illustrated by Tomose Shunsaku. There are also ongoing manga adaptations of the novel, with Kawaisounako illustrating Year 1 and Shia Sasane illustrating Year 2.
Seven Seas Entertainment is responsible for the English publication of the Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 sequel light novels. The story is described as follows:
As Ayanokoji and his classmates begin their second year at the Advanced Nurturing High School, they’re greeted by a fresh gauntlet of exams and a fresh batch of rather unique first-year students. They’ll have to get to know each others quickly, because the first special exam pairs the first-years with the second-years on a written test- with only the second-years facing expulsion if their team performs poorly! Worse yet? It seems one of the new first-years is also from the white room.” As such, the upcoming season will see if Ayanokoji can avoid expulsion while unraveling the identity of the hidden enemy.
The approaching season will determine whether Ayanokoji can evade expulsion as he works to uncover the identity of his secret adversary. Keep watching to learn more.
