The developers of CoD have once again taken action against cheaters in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. This time, they have introduced a new update that will remove cheaters from a game before it even starts.
Despite the efforts of Activision developers to introduce safeguards, the cheating crisis in CoD has persisted for several years. Unfortunately, even with these measures in place, cunning cheaters always seem to find a way to bypass them.
Despite the declining effectiveness of the RICOCHET anticheat system this year, the development team has been continuously releasing incremental updates to enhance its capabilities. As of August 8, 2024, a new countermeasure has been implemented to prevent cheaters from even starting a match.
The purpose of lobby scraping apps is to provide an advantage for cheaters. These apps allow cheaters to evaluate the skill level of other players in a match by analyzing the lobby before the game starts. However, with the release of the new update, RICOCHET will now be able to identify and remove cheaters using these tools, preventing them from joining the match.

“In order to address the issues of boosting and stream sniping, RICOHCET has implemented updates that specifically target lobby scraping applications. As of August 8, players who have these apps active will be prevented from accessing Call of Duty.”
Naturally, these malicious tools violate Activision’s terms of service. As a result, cheaters not only face the consequences of crashing their game, but also the potential for additional punishments such as suspensions or account bans.
The news has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with both players and content creators referring to it as a “W update.”Influencers, in particular, have been affected by lobby-scraping tools as troublesome players continuously switched lobbies in order to target and harass their preferred streamer.
Recently, there has been an increase in the use of cheats by players in CoD, with these hacks being more advanced than previous ones. Some of these cheats were able to bypass Activision’s anti-cheat software, and others were a direct result of the release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass.
