Cody Ko Faces Backlash from Former Fans for “Gaslighting” Viewers in “Pathetic” Apology

After several months of silence regarding Tana Mongeau’s allegations, Cody Ko has finally addressed the issue in a recent video on one of his lesser-known channels. However, his approach has left many fans feeling unsatisfied.

In his first acknowledgment of the controversy, Cody’s comments appeared to be more of a procedural formality rather than a genuine response. This announcement coincided with his exit from TMG Studios, which is known for its podcasting and video creation.

The controversy initially erupted in July 2024, with Cody now only briefly referencing it in his December upload. This mention was delivered within the context of a broader discussion about fitness—a detail that might easily be overlooked by viewers watching the video without full attention.

Cody Ko Refreshes Content Creation

Breaking his silence on a different platform, Cody chose to upload the video on his “Cody Trains”channel. The primary focus was his marathon training journey. Amidst his fitness discussions, he included a short message indicating his desire to return to content creation, acknowledging that some viewers may have lost trust during his hiatus.

He stated, “Being creative, doing this type of thing and putting it out there, it’s just in my DNA. I need to do it. So, I’m gonna do it. Obviously, I understand I’ve been offline for months and haven’t made videos for that whole time. I also understand if your opinion of me has potentially changed over the past few months.”

He elaborated, “I spent the first half of my career criticizing people and judging people online, so I don’t begrudge your judgment of me by any means. I just think all I can do right now and moving forward is to try to be the best person I can be for myself and my family.”

While he acknowledged the controversy, many viewers felt this was insufficient. Commenters voiced their frustration over his lack of a direct response to the allegations. One individual remarked, “Putting the non-apology at the end of an unrelated video on your third channel is so scummy dude,” while another questioned, “Why is he acting like he already apologized and is trying to move forward? Is he gaslighting his audience?”

Cody’s subscriber count has noticeably dropped, losing over 300,000 followers during this period of silence—a clear indication of discontent among his audience. A former fan expressed disappointment, noting, “The amount of die-hard fans defending this is crazy; I was a huge Cody Ko fan and even I won’t dare to defend this.” While a few viewers welcome his return, the positive feedback remains scarce.
