According to Cody Rhodes, his goal is to make WWE the most successful it has ever been by becoming the most profitable superstar in the company’s history. He is confident that he knows the exact steps to achieve this.
At WrestleMania 40, Rhodes ended Roman Reigns’ historic 1,316-day reign as WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion by defeating him and claiming the title.
‘The American Nightmare’ has played a crucial role in the WWE’s resurgence in the past two years since making a comeback to the promotion in 2022.
As AEW has emerged as a strong rival in the past five years, Rhodes and his “finish the story”storyline, along with The Rock’s comeback and the introduction of new personalities like Logan Paul, have significantly raised the bar in the wrestling world.
As the current face of the WWE, Rhodes has made it clear that his main objective for 2024 is to generate the highest amount of revenue possible. He is confident that by becoming the most successful star in the promotion’s 71-year history, he will achieve this ambitious goal.
During a recent appearance on Peter Rosenberg’s show Cheap Heat, Rhodes further explained his position, stating that he wants to ensure that when he eventually leaves WWE, he leaves them in the best position they have ever been in.
The 38-year-old also outlined their vision of achieving greatness as the highest-earning individual in the promotion.
“My intention is to avoid any bias or exaggeration. By the end of this, there should be no spin. Even if Roman Reigns is considered the top star in WWE, my goal is to surpass him completely. This is said with the utmost admiration.”
Rhodes aims to surpass the record-breaking salaries of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar, who both earned $12 million in their time with WWE, in order to become the highest-paid wrestler in the company.
In addition, he will need to lead the WWE in a successful year comparable to the $801 million in revenue generated by John Cena in 2017.
Regardless of financial considerations, Rhodes is aware that he must exceed the skill and charisma of several legendary performers in order to be considered one of the greatest of all time in the ring and on the microphone.
The third-generation superstar deserves credit for helping the WWE incorporate elements from the legendary “Attitude Era,”as the shift away from PG programming is already underway.
In order to succeed in the eyes of the public, one must live up to the legacy left by greats such as Reigns and Stone Cold. This calls for a successful title reign, iconic rivalries, and unforgettable moments that will keep the fans satisfied.
Finishing his story and engaging in a feud with Reigns have been excellent launching points. Rhodes’ remarks indicate his preparedness to solidify his legacy in the WWE history books as the greatest of all time.
