The latest update for College Football 25 has addressed the irritating penalties for roughing the kicker and also resolved a few remaining bugs.
Despite the numerous issues present in CFB 25, including glitches in recruiting and flaws in the simulation logic that are currently affecting the Dynasty game mode, players have strongly criticized the “absurd”and inconsistent penalty calls.
Players specifically noted that there is a frequent occurrence of wide receivers being obstructed without receiving a penalty for pass interference, as well as linemen illegally advancing downfield on RPO plays.
Undoubtedly the most exasperating issue was the tendency of AI-controlled players to be penalized for roughing the kicker during field goals and extra points. This was particularly troublesome as the penalty often resulted in first downs for the opposing team, leaving the player powerless to prevent it.
EA did not address the other issues with inconsistent penalties, but they did finally resolve the problem of roughing the kicker in the July 30th update. This update was posted on the EA forum for College Football 25 and includes fixes for various issues.
The recent patch has successfully decreased the occurrence of penalties for roughing the kicker by AI players during field goal attempts. Prior to the patch, players had to adjust their defensive formation in order to prevent AI users from reaching the kicker. However, this approach also presented challenges as it made it impossible to block kicks.
Following this update, players can once again use field goal-blocking formations without hesitation. Additionally, the patch resolved the problem where the away team was unable to modify offensive audibles in Online head-to-head mode and addressed a rare occurrence where the snap would go behind the quarterback.
EA pledged to release a more extensive title update “in the coming months”which will include a comprehensive Campus Huddle blog detailing updates to every game mode.
