Comedian Christina Pazsitzky recently announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, but she has no intention of stopping her role as host of the Your Mom’s House podcast, which she co-hosts with her husband, Tom Segura.
Christina Pazsitzky and Tom Segura, who are known for their individual Netflix specials, are one of the most beloved couples in the comedy world. Fans can witness their dynamic chemistry in the podcast, Your Mom’s House.
On July 31, the couple addressed their audience directly, reflecting on their presence during the birth of their children, family deaths, and other personal moments before revealing the news of the cancer diagnosis.
“Despite my diagnosis of very early stage breast cancer, I have a very positive outlook on my treatment and prognosis. I am confident that I will recover and this will not be my last summer on earth. The cancer is highly treatable and I have full faith in my recovery.”
The segment starts at 36:00.
Despite acknowledging that treating the cancer would require an aggressive approach, Christina plans on continuing to host her podcast for as long as possible due to the immense joy it brings her.
Despite being diagnosed, the comedian remained optimistic and continued to make light of her situation, even poking fun at the name of the cancer and joking about potentially doing a one-woman show about her experience as a survivor.
She expressed, “I don’t want it to define me. I don’t want to feel obligated to post pictures on Instagram of myself wearing a hospital gown and giving a thumbs up, with captions like ‘monograms for the ladies.’”
In addition, she cautioned her fans against sending her messages about overcoming cancer, clarifying that receiving slogans or platitudes in response to a difficult situation is extremely unhelpful.
“She urged, “Please send me something creative!”before carrying on with Tom about the situation, discussing how she planned to handle it.”
Pazsitzky is not the only YouTuber who has faced cancer. In 2023, Grace Helbig also battled ‘triple-positive breast cancer’, and in 2024, Twitch streamer Ninja was diagnosed with melanoma.
