Note: This article may contain spoilers from the Bleach manga.

Changes in Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 2: A Detailed Overview

1) Opening Scene with Yhwach and Soul King

The episode kicks off with an original interaction involving Yhwach and the Soul King, where the Quincy Father refers to the Soul King as his father. This moment marks the first time viewers witness their backstory through a visual lens.

The sequence shows a young Yhwach at a body of water, seemingly captivated by the Soul King as he matures. Suddenly, the young adult morphs back into an infant, an infant who would go on to be venerated by others and become the Quincy Father, albeit details on this transformation are sparse in the anime.

2) Original Ichigo vs. Yhwach Encounter

Unexpectedly, the episode features a unique combat scenario between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach. This fight illustrates Ichigo leveraging his enhanced abilities to successfully confront Yhwach, demonstrating his growth in power.

However, despite Ichigo’s newfound strength, Yhwach ultimately proves more formidable after regaining his Schrift ‘A’ – The Almighty. Following their intense clash, both characters return to the location of the Soul King.

3) Captains and Lieutenants Visit to the Research and Development Division

While the manga showcases the Gotei 13 captains and lieutenants traveling to the Research and Development Division, the anime restructured these scenes significantly. Notably, the anime shows these members arriving directly at the meeting point, whereas the manga includes more dialogue and discussion among them before reaching Urahara’s location.

When they finally meet with Urahara, the conversation is brisk, centered on his strategy concerning the missing captains, contrasting with the manga that elaborates more on their statuses. Additionally, viewers are treated to a scene in the anime where Ukitake is seen aiding Zaraki Kenpachi.

4) Altered Scene Between Yoruichi and Orihime

In the original manga, Yoruichi Shihouin and Orihime Inoue enter the fray only after Ichigo attacks the Soul King. Yoruichi immobilizes Yhwach while instructing Orihime to heal the Soul King.

Conversely, the anime presents a scenario where the two characters actively assist Ichigo during his battle. As Ichigo and Yhwach engage, Yoruichi intervenes to ensnare Yhwach with her abilities, and Orihime employs her powers to heal Ichigo amidst the conflict.
