The PC specs for Star Wars Outlaws have been revealed, and it’s not great news for those planning to play on Steam Deck.
Ubisoft has announced the minimum requirements for the PC version, and they may exceed the capabilities of the Deck. We have previously witnessed titles such as The First Descendant and Horizon Forbidden West struggle with the limitations of Valve’s handheld. It is possible that another game may now join this list.
The minimum requirements for Star Wars Outlaws are listed below:
Spec | Minimum Requirements |
---|---|
CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel i7-8700K |
Graphics | Nvidia GTX 1660 | AMD RX 5600XT (6GB) | Intel Arc 750 (ReBAR on) |
RAM | 16GB |
Storage | 65GB SSD |
Resolution | 1080p, 30FPS, upscaled from 720p |
Currently, we do not have confidence that the Steam Deck will be able to run the game smoothly. The game’s recommended specifications far surpass the capabilities of the Deck, which is able to handle even the most demanding games.
We have previously been surprised by the capabilities of the Deck, but we do not expect it to be used for portable gaming. However, we believe that devices such as the Asus ROG Ally X and Ayaneo 2S, with their stronger specifications, will be able to handle low settings with brute force.
We don’t necessarily believe they will be operating perfectly, but we will need to wait until August to find out.
Despite this, it should not be seen as negative news. The Steam Deck has a vast selection of games to choose from. However, as technology in major AAA games continues to advance, the handheld may struggle to keep up.
Despite the Deck’s ability to run many modern AAA games without issue, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to experience slow performance in demanding areas despite having a custom preset. Additionally, completing the Resident Evil 4 Remake was only possible at a maximum of 30FPS.
Although it is enjoyable to witness the Steam Deck’s ability to run mainstream games, we have compiled a list of the top Steam Deck games that you should definitely try out.
