In Frostpunk 2, one of the most valuable and powerful resources you can find is Cores. These are essential for constructing critical infrastructure in New London and beyond. You’ll need to gather as many Cores as possible. This guide will help you discover how to acquire all the Cores in Frostpunk 2.
Where to Find All Cores in Frostpunk 2
Cores are crucial for progressing in Frostpunk 2, as they are necessary to fully upgrade the generator in New London. Additionally, they are required for constructing some of the game’s advanced machinery, so collecting as many Cores as you can is beneficial.
To find Cores, you must have access to the surrounding Frostlands through at least one Logistics District, which can be established atop New London’s Old Waystations. There are three of these districts surrounding the city, and developing them will provide you with numerous Frostlander teams to assist in gathering resources.
Cores can be located in specific regions throughout the Frostlands. First, you need your Frostlander teams to scout these regions to reveal the presence and quantity of available Cores. Once you identify where they are, you’ll require multiple teams to transport the Cores back to New London. After their arrival, the Cores will be available for your use. You can monitor your available Cores at any time by checking the top of your HUD screen, located to the right of your Prefab counter.

If the blue Core icon appears in ‘Possible Findings’, it indicates there are Cores available in that location. Additionally, once a region is fully scouted, it often receives a new designation; we’ve made sure to include those in parentheses below.
Foothills – Rusted Engine
- Location: Foothills (directly north of New London) at the Rusted Engine
- Number of Cores: 2
Desolate Coast (Old Dreadnought) – Mangled Cart
- Location: Desolate Coast containing Old Dreadnought colony (west of New London and Frozen Bay)
- Number of Cores: 3
The Meadow – Silver Automatons
- Location: The Meadow (southwest of New London) at the Silver Automatons
- Number of Cores: 4
Highlands (Hag Hills) – Wise Women Camp
- Location: Highlands (directly south of New London) at Wise Women Camp
- Number of Cores: 3 (obtaining these will impact your relations with Stalwarts, so choose wisely)
Valley 1 (Fortitude Valley) – Fortitude Base
- Location: Eastern Valley (east of New London and south of The Gorge) at Fortitude Base
- Number of Cores: 3 (taking these means forgoing an opportunity to easily rebuild a scouting outpost)
Valley 2 (IEC Valley) – IEC Smelter
- Location: Southern Valley (south of New London and south of Hag Hills) at IEC Smelter
- Number of Cores: 4 (choosing these Cores means losing the chance to restart the smelter machine, which is useful for material production)
High Pass – Hot Springs Refuge
- Location: High Pass (north of New London and north of the Foothills) at Hot Springs Refuge
- Number of Cores: 1 (taking this will mean forgoing an opportunity to rebuild the abandoned loading station)
Barren Plains – The Lovers
- Location: Barren Plains (east of New London and east of Fortitude Valley) at The Lovers automatons
- Number of Cores: 2
Far Reach – An Explorer’s Grave
- Location: Far Reach (far east of New London and southeast of Barren Plains) at An Explorer’s Grave
- Number of Cores: 1
Cursed Circle
- Location: North of Old Dreadnought and north of Frozen Bay at the Cursed Circle
- Number of Cores: 2 (the scouts consider these Cores cursed, making their use risky)
Purification Pass – Ghost Town
- Location: Purification Pass (northeast of New London and east of Steam Valley) at the Ghost Town
- Number of Cores: 1
Dead End Crags – Site of Conflict
- Location: Dead End Crags (south of New London and southeast of IEC Valley) at the Site of Conflict
- Number of Cores: 2 (acquiring these will prevent you from repairing the transports, which significantly reduces exploration duration)
Whispering Valley – Wrecked Warehouse
- Location: Whispering Valley (far southwest of New London and west of IEC Valley) at the Wrecked Warehouse
- Number of Cores: 3
