Challenge: Reach Torment Level Two
To achieve Torment Level 2, players must secure kills without dying in the Purgatory Island mode. This milestone rewards you with increased XP for kills, but each Torment level comes with a significant debuff. For instance, reaching Torment level 3 results in constantly being highlighted on opponents’ radars. You can track your Torment level progress on a unique UI element displayed in the game.
Challenge: Spend Five Minutes Outside the Safe Zone
This task may prove tougher than anticipated, as it necessitates staying outside the safe zones on Purgatory Island for a full five minutes without killing any players. To successfully complete this challenge, you must also avoid being killed by others, as any player death resets your timer. It’s advisable to find a secluded area, equip the Ghost perk, and occupy yourself during this time.
Challenge: Get 50 Mercenary Kills Using the Terriball or Vehicle
This challenge requires effort, and I recommend focusing on the vehicle option. The Terriball is a peculiar item that will be explained in more detail later. Your best strategy is to run over NPC mercenaries, who frequently drop from helicopters. Although it may take a while due to the chaos of the battle, you should be able to complete this within the generous 2-hour time window allotted for each game map.
Challenge: Commend 5 Operators
This challenge is straightforward. Simply head to any of the safe zones on Purgatory Island, wait for players to arrive, and approach them. You will receive a prompt to commend each player, which costs you nothing and grants them 50 XP, hopefully leading to a reciprocal commendation.
Challenge: Get Five Operator Kills in Vehicles
This challenge is moderately easy. All that’s required is to secure five player kills while in a vehicle. You can achieve this by either shooting from a passenger seat or by employing the classic tactic of vehicular kills.
Challenge: Get Three Operator Kills with the Terriball
This challenge is more complex. To complete it, you need to earn three Operator kills using the Terriball. It’s common for players to look to trade kills using these orbs, and engaging in such exchanges can be beneficial. The Terriball can spawn randomly across the Purgatory Island map as well as drop from Scare Packages. You can utilize these special orbs by shooting, melee attacking, or colliding with them, sending them flying to eliminate the first Operator they encounter. Personally, I haven’t yet mastered this technique!
Challenge: Teleport 15 Times Using Portals
Portals are scattered throughout the map and each transports you to a random destination, making them essential for quick escapes. You can identify these portals by looking for large red orbs while parachuting in, or by checking for the portal icon on your minimap.
Challenge: Pilot the Flying Shipment
This challenge is quite unique. The beloved map Shipment will glide over the island at arbitrary moments during the match and can be commandeered. Be the first to reach it, or wait for another player to vacate, you can then engage enemies on the Flying Shipment. It’s a peculiar experience!
Challenge: Complete All Challenges
This task is quite straightforward. Completing all Purgatory Island challenges rewards you with the event’s completion prize, the coveted Cloud Watching camouflage.
