Complete Guide to All Tonics in Destiny 2: Episode Revenant Act 1

Complete Guide to All Tonics in Destiny 2: Episode Revenant Act 1

Destiny 2’s Episode Revenant introduces an innovative system known as Tonics, each designed to provide buffs that enhance different playstyles and increase rewards from various activities.

It is essential to understand that Tonics are categorized into two types: Volatile and Enriching. Volatile Tonics offer combat enhancements and bonuses to the Revenant’s Artifact perks, while Enriching Tonics improve rewards gained from defeating enemies and completing activities.

Players can only have one Tonic of each type active simultaneously. Volatile Tonics have a duration of 60 minutes per use, while the length of Enriching Tonics has yet to be disclosed.

The complete lineup of Tonics that Guardians will be utilizing won’t be accessible until Revenant officially launches, but Bungie has provided a preview of their effects in advance of the update.

Volatile Tonics

Destiny 2 volatile tonics

Volatile Tonics offer combat benefits and enhancements to Revenant’s Artifact perks.

TONIC EFFECT (60 Minutes) BOOSTED ARTIFACT PERKS
Refined Tonic of Protecting Frost While Frost Armor is active, Primary ammo Stasis weapons inflict increased damage. Wind Chill, Armor of Eramis
Refined Tonic of Stasis Crystallization Destroying a Stasis crystal grants you a small energy boost for your class ability. Crystalline Converter, Hail The Storm
Refined Tonic of Renewing Finishers Using finishers restores a small amount of health. Debilitating Wave, Conductive Cosmic Crystal
Refined Tonic of Weakening Void While Devour is active, Special ammo Void weapons deal increased damage. Power From Pain, Concussive Reload
Refined Tonic of Amplified Arc While you are Amplified, Primary ammo Arc weapons inflict increased damage. Trace Evidence, Retinal Burn
Refined Tonic of Brawling Decreases damage taken from enemies at close range. The Thick of It, Curative Orbs
Refined Tonic of Void Shrapnel Grants bonus Intellect. Void Renewal, Old God’s Rite

From these examples, it’s evident that Bungie aims to tailor each Tonic to specific builds rather than providing generalized enhancements to Guardians’ abilities.

Since players can only use one Tonic at a time, they must strategically decide which Tonic to activate before entering combat. The 60-minute duration should be sufficient, eliminating the need for mid-battle refreshes except in Raids and Dungeons.

Enriching Tonics

Enriching Tonics enhance rewards from defeating enemies and completing activities.

Bungie has not yet disclosed the specific buffs provided by Enriching Tonics. However, based on the tooltips visible in the system’s interface, it is reasonable to expect that these Tonics will improve drop rates for particular weapon types and armor pieces.

This concludes our overview of Tonics; be sure to check back for the comprehensive list when Revenant goes live on October 8.
