Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster features numerous survivors to rescue during Frank’s intense 72-hour experience in Willamette Parkview Mall. Throughout this gameplay, players can engage in optional missions known as “Scoops,”which allow Frank to recruit several survivors to assist him in combat or to escort them back to the Security Room.
In total, there are 48 optional survivors available for rescue in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. When incorporating key story characters such as Frank and Isabela, the total can exceed 50, contributing towards the Saint achievement.
The number of survivors rescued by the end of the 72-hour mode is contingent on the extent to which the story is completed. Below is a comprehensive guide detailing the timers for each day and the best approach to rescuing these survivors. Please note: spoilers for the main story are included.
Day 1 (September 19th)
On Day 1, players can rescue a total of 11 survivors.

Best order to rescue Day 1 survivors
Start by rescuing Jeff and Natalie before entering the warehouse. Afterward, it’s advisable to complete Kent’s first scoop, “Cut from the Same Cloth,” and progress through Case 1-3. Following this, focus on recruiting the survivors appearing between 4PM and 11PM:

Due to the Eight Survivor Rule, you cannot have all these survivors active at the same time. It’s recommended to rescue all until 9PM and finish the Out of Control scoop to recruit Greg and unlock the Wonderland Plaza shortcut.
Afterward, return those survivors to the Security Room (while completing Case 1-4) before going back to find Yuu, Shinji, and David.
Day 2 (September 20th)
On Day 2, a total of 20 survivors can be rescued.

Best order to rescue Day 2 survivors
Once you’ve completed Case 2 and secured the medicine for Brad, focus on rescuing the survivors available from 7AM to 11AM:

On your way back to deliver the medicine to Brad, you can pick up Tonya and Ross from Wonderland Plaza, as well as Heather and Pamela from Paradise Plaza if it’s after 9AM.
After finishing Case 3, work on rescuing:

Don’t forget to also complete Kent’s scoop “Photo Challenge,” which takes place in Paradise Plaza. Achieve a high PP Outtake photo using Novelty Masks found in Child’s Play and putting them on zombies’ heads.
Return these survivors to the Security Room and wait for Case 4-1 which starts at 3PM. Once completed, head to Wonderland Plaza to rescue a large group of survivors:

After rescuing them and successfully taking them back to the Security Room, it should be around 6-7PM. If you have the “Ronald’s Appetite” scoop active, make sure to bring food back to the Security Room to prevent him from leaving. Afterward, you can go to Entrance Plaza and rescue:

Take these survivors back to the Security Room and you should still have enough time to proceed to North Plaza and begin Case 5-1.

Best order to rescue Day 3 survivors
The first survivor of Day 3 appears at midnight. As soon as you exit the small room with Isabela in Case 5-1, you’ll find Kindell present. Recruit him and escort both characters back to the Security Room.
Next, aim to rescue Gil, who appears in the Food Court at 2AM. If you act quickly, you can return him to the Security Room and start Case 6 soon after.
After concluding Case 6, be sure to take a photo of the Air Duct on the rooftop. This is crucial as you’ll need it to recruit Jonathan, Brett, and Alyssa from the gun store in North Plaza. Consider heading to Colby’s Movieland first and defeating Sean. Here you can rescue:

Completing the “A Strange Group” scoop will also prevent cultists from appearing throughout the mall. After this, go on to recruit Jonathan, Brett, and Alyssa.
Once you’ve rescued them, either return to the Security Room or wait until 8AM, then head over to Wonderland Plaza to rescue:

- Paul (first, you will need to defeat him in a boss fight)
To recruit Paul post-boss fight, grab the nearby fire extinguisher and press the attack button to extinguish the flames. Aim and attack should be avoided as this causes Frank to throw the fire extinguisher away.
After taking these survivors back to the Security Room, prepare to start Case 7-1 at 11AM. We advise creating a separate save file here, as a failed case will result in the game’s worst ending, and none of the rescued survivors will be counted.
Instead of proceeding with Case 7-2, make your way to Colombian Roastmasters in Paradise Plaza before noon to begin Kent’s final scoop and rescue Tad. If you’re delayed, Tad will perish, preventing his rescue. The last time to enter this scoop while being able to rescue Tad is 12:05, so ensure you reach there promptly.
Once Tad is rescued, head to Players in Paradise Plaza to rescue Simone as well. Bring both back to the Security Room, thereby completing your mission to save every survivor in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
At this juncture, you can continue to complete the game’s Case Files to reach the conclusion of 72-hour mode. Do keep in mind, if you strive for the True Ending, the Saint achievement won’t unlock until you’ve finished Overtime mode.
What is the Eight Survivor Rule?
The Eight Survivor Rule institutes a cap on the number of active survivors in the mall. At any given moment, a maximum of eight survivors can be active, meaning that if the count exceeds this limit, new survivors or scoops will not activate.
This limitation encompasses survivors in your party, those involved in scoops, and even those tied to unmarked scoops such as Bill Brenton on Day 1. The only methods to reduce the number of active survivors are to either bring them back to the Security Room or allow them to perish.
Now you’re well-versed in every survivor you can rescue in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Once you’ve saved 50 and escaped the mall, you’ll obtain the Infinite Durability book for use in New Game+ and Infinity Mode. Moreover, you might consider collecting all PP Stickers in the game.
