In the immersive world of Deepwoken, players can align their characters with specific Oaths that define their gameplay style and abilities. One such Oath is the Chainwarden, which can be acquired in the region known as The Eastern Luminant. This guide is designed to provide you with a comprehensive approach to obtaining and mastering the Chainwarden Oath efficiently.
Acquiring the Chainwarden Oath in Deepwoken
The Chainwarden Oath allows players to bind enemies with chains, restricting their movement and creating openings for attacks. Alongside this, players gain access to a Wildcard Mantra and two slots for Combat Mantras. To secure this powerful Oath, you must first gather crucial information from Vice Warden Morredh about a bounty.
Before embarking on your quest for the Chainwarden Oath, ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Friend Reputation with The Central Authority: A minimum of Friend reputation with The Central Authority faction is essential. Enhance your reputation by participating in various events, completing jobs, and engaging in bounty hunts.
- Combined Attribute Points: Achieve a total of 40 points across three key attributes: Strength, Fortitude, and Willpower. This total can be distributed in any manner among the three.
Navigating to The Eastern Luminant
If you’re unfamiliar with Deepwoken, reaching The Eastern Luminant begins with constructing a boat at the docks. Once you have your boat, head right through the arched passage and sail directly ahead until you arrive at the entrance of The Eastern Luminant region, which may take a moment to load.
Locating Vice Warden Morredh
Continue your journey by sailing across The Aratel Sea to the designated point marked on the map. Navigate towards the Antiquarian symbol from Fort Merit docks. Use the elevator to ascend to the hilltop, and then follow the indicated routes to reach the Prison next to the Antiquarian.
Upon entering the Prison, you will find Vice Warden Morredh to your left. Engage him in conversation, where he will share a story about a deserter holding his soldiers captive. Agree to his request to confront Emar Vend, the deserter residing at Summer Isle.
Finding the Deserter Emar Vend
The location of Emar Vend’s hideout is marked on the map. To reach the fort at Summer Isle, return to Fort Merit’s docks and set sail once again. The fort is accessible by climbing the rocks near the dock, leading you to an entrance that descends to the basement.
Inside the basement, converse with the Chained Captive NPC to release them. Upon exiting the basement, prepare for a surprise encounter with Emar Vend. You must defeat this boss to claim the Chainwarden Oath and the Restrain Mantra, which allows you to bind enemies with chains.
Progressing the Chainwarden Oath
Once you possess the Chainwarden Oath, your character will visually reflect this new allegiance, sporting a chain around the waist and left arm. To advance your Chainwarden Oath, focus on defeating enemies with negative relations to The Central Authority while they are chained to you.
Possible targets include:
- Duke Erisia: The Etrean Luminant is located within the Duke Erisia Manor (Laboratory) in the Upper Erisia area.
- Maestro Evengarde Rest: Found inside the Temple of the Blade in the Isle of Vigils, also within The Etrean Luminant.
- The Ferryman: Situated in Boatman’s Watch, an island in the Voidsea of The Eastern Luminant.
Since you’re already in The Eastern Luminant, targeting The Ferryman is a strategic choice. Engage in combat while utilizing the Restrain Mantra before landing every hit. This approach ensures the enemy is successfully chained at the moment they are defeated, facilitating your progress in the Oath. To fully advance, you’ll need to defeat two enemies in this manner to unlock the Perpetual Wrath Mantra, which enhances damage with successive hits from Restrain.
