Lace Harding

Dragon Age The Veilguard Companions Lace Harding
BioWare

Race: DwarfClass: RogueFaction: The Inquisition

Fans of the Dragon Age series will recognize Harding as the Lead Scout for the Inquisition, featured in Dragon Age: Inquisition. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, she stands out as the only companion linked to a faction that players cannot select as a background.

Harding possesses a strong moral compass and a genuinely caring nature, making her a compelling character, even for newcomers. She is highly motivated to assist you in mending the turmoil caused by Solas’ ritual and is an invaluable asset to the Veilguard.

In combat, Harding uses a shortbow from a distance and specializes in lightning damage against enemies. Her expertise in crafting alchemical potions allows her to buff allies while debuffing foes.

How to Recruit Lace Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Recruiting Harding is quite straightforward, as she is essentially the default companion. Just minutes into your journey, you’ll encounter her while she assists the citizens of Minrathous, and she will join your party as the first member of the Veilguard.

Neve Gallus

BioWare

Race: HumanClass: MageFaction: Shadow Dragons

Neve is a formidable mage who operates as a private investigator in Minrathous while also secretly serving the Shadow Dragons—a rebellious faction aimed at dismantling corruption to improve the lives of Tevinter’s citizens.

In her quest for justice, Neve clashes with the zealous Venatori and the corrupted Magisterium that tightly controls the region. She is deeply committed to aiding those she perceives as oppressed.

Neve commands powerful frost spells and can manipulate the battlefield with time-slowing magic. Furthermore, she possesses a healing ability crucial throughout different phases of gameplay.

How to Recruit Neve Gallus in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Similar to Harding, Neve will join your party relatively early in the main quest. During the game’s opening mission, you will meet her amidst the shadows of Minrathous, and she will seamlessly become part of your team after a brief introduction.

Bellara Fight

BioWare

Race: ElfClass: MageFaction: Veil Jumpers

Though a Mage, Bellara’s signature weapon is her prosthetic arm, which transforms into a great bow thanks to ancient Elven technology. Her role as a Veil Jumper has her exploring ancient ruins and tinkering with forgotten artifacts.

Her fascination with these relics can verge on obsessive, lending a quirky charm to her character. While she is often light-hearted, she has a fierce loyalty to her faction and can exhibit a darker side if they are threatened.

In combat, Bellara uses her prosthetic bow to unleash powerful spells and can apply elemental weaknesses to enemies. Like Neve, she has access to healing abilities that enhance her role within the party.

How to Recruit Bellara Lutare in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Bellara can be located early in Dragon Age: The Veilguard as you return to the Arlathan Forest after interrupting Solas’ ritual. You will first encounter her fellow Veil Jumpers, Strife and Irelin, who are searching for her after she has strayed.

If you proceed further into the forest, you will find Bellara beyond a Veil Bubble. She will join your party after you assist her in escaping and help the Veil Jumpers deal with some Darkspawn.

Lucan Dellamorte

Dragon Age The Veilguard Companions Lucanis
BioWare

Race: HumanClass: RogueFaction: Antivan Crows

Lucanis embodies the classic rogue archetype with charm and unmatched skill as an assassin. Known for targeting mages, he harbors a dark secret; through forbidden blood magic rituals, he now shares his soul with a malevolent demon, creating a compelling duality in his character.

A Treviso native, Lucanis is a high-ranking member of the Antivan Crows and the grandson of the organization’s First Talon, making him a potential leader. However, he prefers his active role as an agent, relishing in hunting down the deserving targets.

Unlike Harding, who is ranged, Lucanis excels in melee combat and dishes out significant damage with increased critical hit chances.

How to Recruit Lucanis Dellamorte in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

To recruit Lucanis, journey to Treviso during the game’s first act and establish contact with the Antivan Crows. Complete their tasks, and soon you will be sent to investigate the “death” of Lucanis and the Blood Mages implicated.

During this investigation, you will meet and rescue Lucanis, who will then ally himself with the Veilguard.

Period

Dragon Age The Veilguard Companions Davrin
BioWare

Race: ElfClass: WarriorFaction: Grey Wardens

Davrin grew up in a Dalish clan but yearned for adventure and the chance to leave a mark on history. His quest led him to join the esteemed Grey Wardens, where he rose through the ranks to become a formidable monster slayer.

Devoted to alleviating the Blight and combating Darkspawn, Davrin is a steadfast ally who holds a deep respect for defending goodness. He is also the gentle caretaker of a delightful griffon named Assan.

Davrin can summon Assan in battle to wreak havoc on enemies with massive fire damage. Additionally, he has taunting skills that draw enemy aggression away from your Rook and other companions, allowing for tactical maneuvers.

How to Recruit Davrin in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

As with some of the upcoming companions, our preview didn’t permit us to observe Davrin’s initial encounter. However, we do know he will be the fifth companion you meet in the early stages of the game.

Emmrich Volkarin

Dragon Age The Veilguard Companions Emmerich
BioWare

Race: HumanClass: MageFaction: Mourn Watch

According to the developers we spoke with during our preview, Emmerich is the quintessential gentleman. As the oldest member of the Veilguard, he belongs to the Mortalitasi as part of their military wing, the Mourn Watch.

As a necromancer and scholar, Emmerich is known for his eloquent dialogue and is accompanied by a skeletal assistant named Manfred, who will grow alongside him. This affiliation with necromancy may lead to intriguing dynamics within your party.

Emmerich harnesses his magical abilities for combat, capable of unleashing substantial necrotic damage and debilitating spells against foes.

How to Recruit Emmrich Volkarin in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

As with several later companions, we didn’t have the chance to meet Emmerich during our gameplay preview, making his recruitment methods and joining order unclear at this time.

Taash

BioWare

Race: QunariClass: WarriorFaction: Lords of Fortune

Taash is the sole Qunari companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and their uniqueness extends further. Instead of relying on traditional weaponry, Taash employs a pair of axes, showcasing an unusual combat style.

Affiliated with the Lords of Fortune, Taash is driven by a love for all things shiny and a thirst for adventure and recognition. They favor a straightforward approach in every situation and maintain an extensive network of contacts.

In combat, Taash demonstrates techniques absorbed from the dragons they typically hunt by executing fire-breathing attacks, which proves effective against Darkspawn’s elemental vulnerabilities.

Like other companions revealed in our preview, we are still gathering information regarding the circumstances of meeting and recruiting Taash.
