Winter Drop: The First Step Towards Minecraft 1.22

The Winter Drop, set to launch in the winter of 2024-2025, introduces a new overworld biome called the Pale Garden, featuring various new blocks and elements along with a new hostile mob known as Creaking.

Exploring the Pale Garden: Biome Features

The Pale Garden resembles traditional oak forests, but its pale oak trees display a notably grayer color palette, giving them a desaturated appearance. The sky, water, and other blocks also share this muted aesthetic. Among the trees, players will find patches of pale moss blocks and carpets, along with pale hanging moss, pale oak leaves, and pale oak saplings adorning the landscape.

Pale oak trees are valuable for harvesting pale oak logs and planks, which can be utilized to craft various decorative items, including:

  • Pale Oak Boat
  • Pale Oak Stairs
  • Pale Oak Slab
  • Pale Oak Sign
  • Pale Oak Hanging Sign
  • Pale Oak Button
  • Pale Oak Pressure Plate
  • Pale Oak Door
  • Pale Oak Fence
  • Pale Oak Fence Gate
  • Pale Oak Trapdoor

Introducing Creaking: The New Hostile Mob

Some pale oak trees may conceal Creaking Hearts, which act as spawners for the new Creaking hostile mobs. Players can harvest these hearts from the tops of pale oak tree trunks with an axe that has the Silk Touch enchantment. Dropped hearts can only be activated at night, the sole time when mobs spawn in the Pale Garden.

Here are some essential points to consider when spawning Creaking mobs:

  • Once a Creaking spawns, it cannot be harmed.
  • Destroying the Creaking Heart spawner is necessary to eliminate all Creakings.
  • A Creaking Heart positioned between two similarly aligned pale oak logs or wood blocks becomes dormant.
  • At night, a dormant Creaking Heart verifies if the matching logs are still in place. If they are not, it deactivates.
  • In all other situations, it activates and spawns two Creakings simultaneously.

Bundles of Bravery: Upcoming Update

Following the Winter Drop, Mojang will launch a highly anticipated Hardcore mode for Bedrock Edition, titled “Bundles of Bravery,”featuring the following attributes:

  • The Survival world will be set to Hard difficulty.
  • Players will not respawn after dying.
  • Instead, they will have the choice to observe the world in spectator mode.

Additionally, Mojang has introduced “Bundles,”a new item type which is no longer in experimental status, with these key features:

  • Bundles can hold mixed stacks of items.
  • They can be dyed in 16 different colors.
  • Crafting recipes include:
    • 6x Rabbit Hide + 2x String
    • 1x Leather + 1x String
