Complete Guide to the Fangscorcher Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Regardless of whether you’ve played any games in the Dragon Age series, the High Dragons are infamous within the franchise. These formidable foes are relentless predators, always on the lookout for their next meal. When you encounter one, especially on an unlucky day, brace yourself for an intense battle!

Your first encounter with a High Dragon in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be with Fangscorcher. In this guide, we will delve into the details on where to find this beast and effective strategies to defeat it.

Strategies for Slaying Fangscorcher

The tale of Fangscorcher begins during a dialogue with Cutter, a Lord of Fortune, while completing the Companion quest for Taash. Currently, Fangscorcher has taken residence in an abandoned village near the Arlathan Forest.

This dragon has been menacing the villagers, leaving a trail of casualties in its wake. The quest to confront Fangscorcher, aptly titled “Slaying the Fangscorcher,” commences after completing “A Dragon Class.”

The quest takes place just north of the Arlathan Forest, adjacent to the Water Puzzle. Use the fast travel option to reach Arlathan Forest and navigate to the dragon’s lair. It’s advisable to follow Taash’s guidance and stay concealed until the dragon finally makes its appearance.

Stealth is essential; attempting a surprise attack will not succeed since Fangscorcher is already aware of your presence.

As you progress, you’ll enter a new area known as the Enchanted Courtyard, where you will need to defeat the Antaam. Once that challenge is overcome, keep an eye out for Fangscorcher’s glaring flames—the telltale sign of its proximity.

Effective Tactics to Defeat Fangscorcher

To dominate Fangscorcher, prioritizing your movements is crucial. Dodge its long-range fireball attacks while launching your counter-attacks during the intervals. Focus on targeting the dragon’s feet and claws, effectively diminishing its Barrier.

Upon breaking the Barrier, Fangscorcher will fall, exposing a vital attack point: its heart. You have a limited timeframe to unleash your most potent attacks here.

When its health declines to 75%, expect the dragon to take flight to a cliff, unleashing waves of fireballs upon descent, followed by a powerful body slam directed at you. A similar tactic will be employed when its health is reduced by half; however, this time, it will also summon meteor strikes.

The good news is that the end of the battle is approaching. It is vital to take cover and continue dodging incessantly to avoid fire damage, which can deplete your health rapidly.

Observe for openings and tailor your attacks based on Fangscorcher’s movements. Steering clear of fire damage is essential for maintaining your health throughout the fight.

With a bit of skill and timing, you’ll emerge victorious over this fierce dragon!

After defeating Fangscorcher, don’t forget to explore its lair for exclusive rewards.
