How to Trigger the Absolute Darkness Event in Fisch
The main purpose of waiting for the Absolute Darkness event is to catch the elusive Ancient Depths Serpent, an Exotic fish found exclusively during this rare occurrence.
To successfully reel in the Ancient Depths Serpent, certain conditions must be met. This fish only appears in the Absolute Darkness event that occurs at night, which can take some time to trigger. If you’re facing delays in reaching The Depths during the event’s active window, consider purchasing Sundial Totems. You can find these at a cave atop Sunstone Island with the coordinates (-1220, 195, -1045). Each totem costs 2,000C$ and allows players to manually alter the day/night cycle in-game.
Sundial Totems are single-use items, and it may take numerous attempts to activate the Absolute Darkness event. Personally, I utilized over 20 totems before I finally witnessed the event, so it’s wise to stock up in advance. Another crucial tip is to wait a few minutes after sunset before utilizing another totem. The event may not always initiate immediately when night falls, and a touch of patience can help avoid wasting your totems.
Preparing for the Absolute Darkness Event
Before embarking on your journey to The Depths, acquiring a The Depths Key is essential. This exotic item can be fished out of Strange Whirlpools or from various locations in Vertigo. Using a Magnet can significantly increase your chances of snagging this key. Listen for the distinct high-pitched chime, which indicates that you’ve hooked the elusive key. Once obtained, use it to unlock the large, red and black gate leading into The Depths, located in Vertigo amidst red crystals.
Please note that leaving or rejoining the game resets your spawn point to Moosewood, which will lock the gate again. This forces you to search for another key.
Additionally, consider investing in a Fish Radar for 8,000C$ at the Moosewood Docks. This essential tool helps pinpoint the spawning area for the Ancient Depths Serpent when the Absolute Darkness event occurs. Without it, navigating the darkness becomes significantly more challenging.
Finding the Ancient Depths Serpent
During the Absolute Darkness event, look for a faint yellow glow indicating the spawn point of the Ancient Depths Serpent, situated on the right side of the island where the merchant and angler are located. This glow is only visible if your Fish Radar is activated.
Keep in mind that the event lasts less than 10 minutes, and the Ancient Depths Serpent prefers the Truffle Worm as bait. To maximize your fishing potential, ensure you have enough Truffle Worms on hand. You can obtain these by purchasing Volcanic Geodes from the Travelling Merchant, though be warned that not every geode contains Truffle Worms.
For the best chance of catching this rare fish, equip a Mythic Rod along with a Lucky or Hasty blessing. The Lucky blessing increases your luck by 20%, while the Hasty blessing reduces lure time by 55%. Don’t forget to bait your line with Truffle Worms!
