Complete list of every Black Flash shown in Jujutsu Kaisen so far

In chapter 256 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the most powerful sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, clarified a misunderstanding about Black Flash. He stated that it is not solely determined by a person’s overall cursed energy, but rather by luck.

Despite being a first-grade sorcerer, Nanami was able to achieve a higher record of consecutive Black Flash techniques compared to Gojo Satoru, a special-grade sorcerer. However, Gojo admitted that he still holds the record for most Black Flash techniques used in combat, beating out Nanami. To everyone’s surprise, Itadori Yuji ultimately surpassed both of them in this aspect.

Which characters from the series have used this technique if it relies solely on luck?

The Chid arc in Jujutsu Kaisen introduced one of the main characters, Yuta Okkotsu, and took place during the movie 0 of the series. It featured some of the most epic battles in the entire series.

Additionally, during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons showdown, Nanami Kento, a first-grade sorcerer, made history by using the advanced cursed technique four times in a row against the attacking cursed spirits at Jujutsu High.

In this movie, a newly introduced protagonist named Yuta Okkotsu also demonstrated this advanced cursed technique, joining the ranks of another sorcerer. Geto then went back to Jujutsu High to persuade Yuta to join his side, after causing a battle amongst the sorcerers.

After battling Inumaki, Panda, and Maki, Geto turned his attention to Yuta. During their fight, Geto shattered Yuta’s sword and proceeded to taunt him. However, this only fueled Yuta’s determination and he struck Geto with a powerful advanced cursed technique directly to the face.

During this arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, the students from both branches of Jujutsu High engaged in their annual friendly battle as a form of practice. However, Itadori Yuji’s participation in the event was met with unexpected interference from a group of enemies, consisting of sorcerers and a powerful cursed spirit named Hanami.

During this arc, Itadori encountered Aoi as well. Aoi taught him effective techniques for controlling his cursed energy and successfully executing Black Flash. This proved to be advantageous timing, as Itadori was able to put his training to the test against Hanami. However, his first attempt was unsuccessful due to his anger towards Hanami, who was allied with Mahito – the murderer of Junpei. Aoi quickly intervened and helped Itadori regain control of his emotions.

Itadori Yuji began his march and successfully used the advanced cursed technique to strike Hanami. While in the zone, he managed to land three additional hits on the cursed spirit, surpassing Nanami’s record on his first attempt.

The Death Painting arc in Jujutsu Kaisen marked the end of the first season of the series. It revolved around the main trio of sorcerers as they delved into the investigation of strange disappearances at Megumi’s former school. While Megumi was transported to a different location, Itadori and Nobara were confronted with two death paintings, Eso and Kechizu.

Despite Itadori’s dominance over Kechizu, Nobara struggled against Eso and was struck by his cursed technique. However, she cleverly turned this to her advantage by using it against the death painting and unleashing her own cursed technique. As the two death paintings teetered on the brink of defeat, Nobara joined forces with Itadori to deliver two powerful Black Flash techniques, each sorcerer taking down Eso and Kechizu.

The final arc of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, known as the Shibuya arc, focused on the cursed spirits’ attempts to seal Gojo Satoru. In doing so, they put the lives of those at the station in danger.

Despite having sealed the strongest sorcerer, Mahito continued his pursuit of Itadori, only to encounter a gravely injured Nanami. Just as Itadori reached his side, the cursed spirit ruthlessly took the life of the first-grade sorcerer in front of his student.

Itadori’s rage fueled his attack against Mahito, but his efforts were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Nobara. She bravely faced Mahito’s cursed technique and suffered severe injuries. Itadori was devastated by this turn of events, which brought Mahito closer to achieving his perfect form. Taking advantage of the situation, Mahito confidently unleashed his advanced cursed technique on Itadori.

Luckily, Aoi arrived just in time to rescue his self-proclaimed brother. He reassured the protagonist to take their time as he had experienced a devastating loss. While Aoi kept Mahito occupied, Itadori Yuji regained consciousness and used an advanced cursed technique to strike Mahito, ultimately breaking his hand.

As the fight raged on, Itadori and Aoi joined forces to take on Mahito in a fierce tag team battle.

Impressed by his brother’s rapid growth, Aoi Todo was motivated to step into the spotlight. He charged at Mahito and unleashed his advanced cursed technique, landing a powerful blow. However, Mahito retaliated later in the battle by utilizing the advanced cursed technique against Aoi.

During the final moments of the battle, Aoi used his boogie-woogie to prevent the cursed spirit from using a technique. With the help of Aoi’s assistance, Itadori Yuji was able to land two hits of Black Flash on Mahito, one of which was a fake. Throughout this arc, Yuji used this technique three times, while Mahito and Aoi each used it once.

The most recent and potentially final installment of the Jujutsu Kaisen series began with a showdown between the strongest characters: Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna. This intense battle occurred in Shinjuku and was the highlight of the entire series. It also marked the debut of Gojo Satoru’s advanced cursed technique, which he executed a total of four times (not in succession).

The initial encounter was with Sukuna, followed by a battle against Agito, an enhanced form of Megumi’s cursed technique Nue that incorporated his most powerful shadows. The third clash was with Mahoraga, the most formidable shinigami of Megumi’s cursed technique, and the fourth was another confrontation with Sukuna, although this time he was protected by Mahoraga.

Sadly, even though he was considered humanity’s strongest hope, Gojo eventually suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the King of Curses. Other sorcerers took his place until Maki Zenin arrived. Ryomen Sukuna eagerly awaited the opportunity to defeat her and prove that jujutsu (sorcery) was superior to raw physical strength (which was Maki’s only advantage).

As a result of a few exchanges of blows, he was able to send Maki flying with the advanced cursed technique. After defeating Kusakbe, the King of Curses was later joined by Miguel and Larue.

Since Sukuna had already used up his reverse cursed technique, he resorted to using a cursed technique against Larue, which he had learned from Gojo Satoru during their battle.

Luckily, Maki bravely returned to the battlefield despite being struck by a Black Flash. Ironically, her first encounter upon returning was another Black Flash from Sukuna, which triggered his cursed technique Dismantle.

After striking Maki, Sukuna used his cursed technique on Choso, also known as the death painting. He demonstrated the technique four times before being interrupted by Larue’s curse. In the midst of the distraction, Itadori Yuji was able to use the Black Flash, awakening his own cursed technique and hitting Sukuna.

Total number of occurrences of the cursed technique

Following Gojo Satoru’s impressive use of the cursed technique during the battle of the strongest, it was revealed to have gained increased versatility by kickstarting other cursed techniques. This was evidenced by Sukuna’s use of it to activate his reverse cursed technique and Dismantle, as well as Yuji’s awakening of his own cursed technique. The total number of times this technique has been demonstrated in the series is:

Black Flash user Number of times used
Yuta Okkotsu 1
Kento Nanami 4
Yuji Itadori 8
Nobara Kugisaki 1
It will be done 2
Aoi Todo 1
Satoru Gojo 4
Ryomen Sukuna 4

Therefore, the series featured Black Flash being utilized by sorcerers and cursed spirits a total of 25 times. However, it should be noted that this count may not be completely accurate as sorcerers like Gojo may have used the technique off-screen.

In chapter 256, Gojo declared his number of Black Flashes to be higher than Nanami’s before the Shinjuku Showdown arc. However, it was later confirmed in chapter 256 that Itadori had used this technique more times (8) than the strongest sorcerer.

There were 8 incredibly intricate and cursed techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen that left people completely amazed.
