Complete List of Major Manga on Golden Week Break and Their Return Dates

As the Golden Week break draws near, numerous manga series will be taking a pause from releasing new chapters due to their respective magazine breaks. The two major companies responsible for publishing these manga are Shueisha and Kodansha, both with a primary focus on manga series. As a result, fans are eagerly anticipating updates on which manga will be on break and when they can expect their return.

The Golden Week is a holiday period in Japan that includes several public holidays. Although only four of the seven days are officially designated as public holidays, the entire week is widely recognized as a holiday. This year’s Golden Week begins on Monday, April 29 and ends on Sunday, May 5.

Detailed Release Schedule for Popular Manga After Golden Week Break

All manga, regardless of the publisher, release their new chapters at 12 am JST on their designated release dates. As Shueisha and Kodansha have varying release schedules, we will refer to the manga’s release date in Japan as “on the date.”Similarly, the day before the manga’s release in Japan will be denoted as “the previous day.”

The release schedule for a specific manga in various locations around the world is as follows:

According to the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, all manga series featured in the publication will be taking a one-week hiatus in observance of the magazine’s Golden Week break. This means that several highly-anticipated chapters from popular series will also be postponed, including the following:

  • One Piece chapter 1114
  • Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 259
  • My Hero Academia chapter 422
  • Kagurabachi chapter 32
  • Akane Banashi Chapter 109
  • Undead Unluck chapter 206
  • Astro Royale chapter 4
  • Blue Box chapter 148
  • Mission: Yozakura Family chapter 225
  • Me & Roboco chapter 184
  • Sakamoto Days chapter 165
  • Witch Watch chapter 155

These manga chapters were originally scheduled for release on Monday, May 6, but will now be released the following week.

Despite being published in Weekly Young Jump magazine, the manga Oshi no Ko has announced that its upcoming chapter 148 will be postponed until Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Among the exceptions are Chainsaw Man and Black Clover. Despite the ongoing Golden Week break, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga will still release chapter 164 on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Similarly, the Black Clover manga will also release two new chapters on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Despite the upcoming Golden Week break, the biweekly series Spy X Family manga will continue to release on schedule.

Kodansha

According to the official X account of K Manga (previously known as Twitter), Weekly Shonen Magazine will be taking a break for the Golden Week holiday in Japan. As a result, fans can anticipate the release of new chapters of their beloved manga on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

The included manga chapters are:

  • Shangri-La Frontier chapter 176
  • Wind Breaker chapter 142
  • Edens Zero chapter 286
  • Rent-a-Girlfriend chapter 328
  • Blue Lock chapter 260
  • The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse chapter 148

Despite the hiatus, fans can expect a new chapter of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest to be released on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
