On October 6th, 2024, the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards were held at the Busan Cinema Center.

Entering its sixth edition, the 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards began in 2019, initially aiming at recognizing Asian content before transitioning to a global focus in 2023. This prestigious event honors outstanding achievements in television, over-the-top (OTT) services, and online video content from around the world.

This year saw the submission of 201 entries from 16 countries, with 41 nominees selected from 10 countries across 11 categories by a panel of international judges. A standout inclusion this year was the brand new “People’s Choice Award,” which allowed fans to vote for their favorite actors in the OTT landscape. Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, recognized for their roles in “Lovely Runner,” took home this accolade despite being unable to attend in person. They expressed their appreciation via video messages.

Byun Woo-seok conveyed his regret for not being present due to other obligations, thanking fans for their unwavering support: “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire ‘Lovely Runner’ team for allowing me to shine as Seon-jae. This award, achieved through the efforts and votes of our fans, holds immense significance for me. I will forever cherish the love and encouragement you all provide and aim to repay it with improved performances. Thank you.”

Kim Hye-yoon also shared her thoughts, stating, “I’m delivering this message via video due to scheduling challenges. I am truly grateful to all the fans who supported me in winning the People’s Choice Award. I aspire to become an actress who showcases a broader range of talents and performances in the future. Thank you very much.”

In another highlight of the evening, Chae Jong-hyeop, awarded Best Newcomer Actor, expressed his joy for being part of such a significant event, stating, “It’s a privilege to receive an award here, and I feel honored. I owe this to the hard work of the ‘Eye Love You’ team and the love from the audience for the drama. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.”

Co-winner Kim Yo-han dedicated his award saying, “This is for my grandmother in heaven who gave me my name. I will strive diligently as an actor blessed with this name. Thank you to my supportive parents, who were initially hesitant about my acting career but now stand by me. I’m also grateful to the director who had faith in me, as well as to my seniors, Woo-sik hyung, Seok-gu hyung, and Hee-jun sunbaenim, for their guidance during my challenging early days. I will always be a joyful actor named Kim Yo-han.”

Ahn Jae-hong, honored with Best Supporting Actor, remarked, “Being able to host the opening ceremony of this beloved festival and receiving such a prestigious award will always be a cherished moment for me.”

Yeom Hye-ran, who received the Best Supporting Actress award, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I want to sincerely thank all the wonderful individuals I encountered during ‘Mask Girl,’ the outstanding crew, and the incredible actors I collaborated with, especially the director. Lastly, I will always remember actress Park Ji-ah, who once described me as a fortunate actress. May she rest peacefully.”
