Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s 2018 novel, it premiered on September 5, 2024, on Netflix. The project was originally in development at Fox Entertainment in 2019. Jenna Lamia was announced as the adapter for the project, which was later greenlit by Netflix as a six-part series in August 2022. Changes from the novel include altering the bride’s name from Celeste Otis to Amelia Sacks. The adjustments were made specifically to avoid similarities with the series Big Little Lies.
