Comprehensive Guide to Breeding in Elder Scrolls Castles

Once you’ve unlocked the bed (available at dynasty level 13), you can begin the breeding process. Consistently reproducing your subjects is essential as you expand your empire, ensuring a sufficient workforce for your increasing number of stations and enhancing the gene pool with superior traits. However, knowing how to breed the perfect offspring is tricky.

Couples can only give birth to one baby every 24 hours, so establishing a regular breeding schedule can optimize this feature. A baby will transform into an adult after 7 in-game days (each day represents a year). Unfortunately, breeding outcomes heavily rely on RNG, so it’s possible to perform everything correctly and still face unfavorable results. However, there are crucial steps you can take to significantly enhance the likelihood of producing higher-rarity offspring.

Characters with Rare, Epic, or Legendary rarity are highly likely to produce offspring of a higher rarity. Additionally, if the parents have matching traits, there’s a strong chance of those traits being passed onto their offspring, though it’s not guaranteed! For instance, even though I paired two parents with mighty and headstrong traits, the baby only inherited the melodramatic trait. Nevertheless, it’s important to continue breeding until you achieve the perfect baby.

A few other important considerations about breeding include that a subject must be between the ages of 16 and 64 to breed. You can assign them to a bed, but they will refuse to mate outside this age range. Additionally, you can breed same-gender pairs—both male and female—so don’t forget that two subjects of the same gender can produce powerful offspring. Finally, while two subjects don’t need to be married to reproduce, pairing them with others may lead to unnecessary drama.

An essential detail to remember as you progress through the game is the population cap of 200. Once you reach this cap, your subjects will no longer breed, and the only way to add new subjects is by opening packs. Reduce your population to 199 to enable breeding again, so be sure to banish any unnecessary subjects to continue creating better ones!

With this Elder Scrolls Castles breeding guide, you’re well-equipped to breed legendary subjects and build a perfect dynasty!
