Comprehensive Remnant 2 Boss Rush Guide: Rewards and Buffs Explained

In the Dark Horizon DLC for Remnant 2, players can dive into a distinctive new game mode known as Boss Rush. In this mode, you will face a series of named Elites and bosses, allowing you to farm essential resources and relic fragments.

Boss Rush Modes Guide – Remnant 2: Dark Horizon

Boss Rush consists of a sequence of boss encounters designed to help players farm items. It features three tiers, each with an increasing number of bosses and enhanced rewards. Below are the three tiers along with their completion requirements.

  • Triple Threat: Battle three bosses consecutively, with an elite opponent in between each.
  • Trial By Fire: Face six bosses in succession, culminating in a battle with Annihilation.
  • The Gauntlet: Defeat 16 bosses, ultimately confronting Annihilation at the end.

During each of these trials, players can select a difficulty level. Higher difficulties yield superior rewards and more XP. The available difficulty levels are:

  • Survivor: Normal difficulty.
  • Veteran: Hard difficulty.
  • Nightmare: High challenge mode, designed for experienced players.
  • Apocalypse: Touted with the tagline “Good luck,”this mode is definitely not for the faint of heart.

How Boss Rushes Function in Remnant 2

To start, playersmust defeat several normal enemies followed by a named Elite. This Elite is typically an Abhorration. Upon defeating the Elite, you will enter a brief grace period during which no further enemies spawn, allowing time to locate the Altar and any treasure chests. After gathering items, you can proceed to the following room or stay to farm Mod power-ups or ammo for the bosses.

Any boss may appear during the Boss Rush attempts, with the sole exception of Annihilation, which does not spawn in the Triple Threat tier and always serves as the final boss in both the Trial By Fire and The Gauntlet modes. Upon defeating a boss, players will be healed of all status effects (this healing is specific to Survivor mode; it may not apply to higher difficulties). However, players do not regain any Mod power or ammo after defeating bosses.

Once a boss is defeated, you can access the Altar to receive a buff. The Altar icon can be located on the mini-map. This buff will remain active until the Boss Rush concludes. Additionally, a treasure chest containing a Mutator will be available on the map; if you already possess that Mutator, the chest will instead give you a Corrupted Lumenite Crystal.

The second round will commence when you enter the following room, where you will again fight through a group of enemies, then an Elite, followed by another boss. This process continues until you run out of bosses. Note: while defeating bosses provides some rewards and XP, players will not obtain weapons or boss items from Boss Rushes on lower difficulty settings; these must still be farmed through traditional gameplay.

What is the Optimal Build for Boss Rush in Remnant 2?

While there is no definitive best build for Boss Rushes, it is advisable to stick with a build you are comfortable with, ensuring you have an ammo management strategy. Boss Rushes offer limited ammo resources, meaning an inefficient weapon could leave you without ammunition by the end.

To manage your ammo efficiently, consider using the Galvanized Resupply Band Ring or the Zero Divide Amulet, depending on your available equipment slots. It’s also crucial to have some form of self-healing, especially if you are tackling these encounters solo.

Additionally, Boss Rushes are great for leveling new Archetypes. For instance, if you equip a less-used Archetype, such as the newly introduced Warden Archetype from the DLC, you can achieve level 2 after completing one run of the Triple Threat on Survivor difficulty. This mode is excellent for rapidly leveling up new builds, and you can also remove one of your Archetypes to funnel all XP toward the desired one for faster leveling.
