Concerns Grow Over Call of Duty’s Anti-Cheat Effectiveness Before Black Ops 6 Launch

Fans of the Call of Duty franchise have already started poking fun at the inclusion of the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system in the upcoming Black Ops 6, even before its official launch, claiming it offers inadequate defense against cheaters.

Throughout the years, the Call of Duty series has faced numerous challenges with cheating. In Modern Warfare 2 (2009), the issues were relatively harmless, with players encountering fast-paced lobbies, a modified game mode in Global Thermonuclear War, and various unique clan tags.

But as time progressed, the situation escalated dramatically. Cheaters pushed many players away from the original Warzone battle royale, leading to a loud outcry for an anti-cheat solution.

The Ricochet system was eventually introduced to Call of Duty, but its effectiveness has received mixed reviews. While numerous ban waves have diminished the presence of cheaters, they still remain a problem.

As the launch of Black Ops 6 approaches, it has been confirmed that the new title will also feature the anti-cheat system. However, fans of the series have already expressed their skepticism.

ModernWarzone humorously remarked that the “protected by Ricochet anti-cheat” segment in the teaser trailer for Black Ops 6 resembles security personnel performing inadequate checks.

Another player humorously pointed out, “the Window Ricochet is on is already broken into; that says it all.” Some expressed disbelief at how the game promotes this system, labeling it as the “worst AAA anti-cheat I’ve ever encountered.” A user lamented, “Warzone ranked is in shambles. It’s literally unplayable, and I’m certainly not just bad.”

Conversely, some users suggested that problems with cheating are more prevalent in Warzone compared to multiplayer modes.

“Most of the complaints are from Warzone players rather than multiplayer players. Until there’s a free weekend, that is,” one user commented. Another player added, “I don’t believe it’s as severe as people claim. They ban a significant number of players daily or weekly, I’ve hardly encountered blatant hackers.”

The Call of Duty development team has previously stated that Ricochet is continually evolving with new updates. Perhaps they have some surprises in store for Black Ops 6.
