According to Colin Moriarty, a seasoned industry expert who claims to have spoken with a developer from Firewalk Studios, the game Concord incurred a staggering cost of $400 million and was envisioned as the “future of PlayStation,”with a potential impact comparable to Star Wars.
Concord was taken offline within a mere two weeks, earning the title of one of the most significant failures in gaming history, as it reportedly lost millions with all players being refunded for their purchase. The exact financial details have remained largely undisclosed until now.
Moriarty asserts that the total cost for developing Concord reached $400 million, with $200 million spent on development costs before Sony acquired Firewalk Studios and another $200 million invested by Sony thereafter.
He mentioned having an in-depth conversation with an insider from the project, gaining extensive insights into the challenges faced during its development.

“Concord cost about $400 million to create,”Moriarty stated. “In the first quarter of 2023, it entered the Alpha stage. This occurred before Sony acquired the team.”
According to his source, $200 million was expended even before reaching the Alpha stage.
“When shown, the game was in laughable condition, even though the Alpha was announced as ready,”he stated. “It was in such terrible shape that Sony felt compelled to invest an additional $200 million, totaling $400 million, to render the game viable.”
Despite its troubled production timeline and, as noted by Moriarty, the significant portion of development being outsourced to expedite its release, the internal sentiment regarding the project was marred by a culture of “toxic positivity.”
“Concord was deemed the ‘Future of PlayStation,’ with such ambitious goals for this game that it was likened to a Star Wars project for Sony, intended for continuous revisiting.”
Currently, Concord’s status remains uncertain, as its servers have been deactivated and all game copies refunded. Playing the game is no longer possible.
