Concord Will Launch at $40 – And That’s A Good Thing

The upcoming sci-fi PVP FPS game, Concord, will feature teams competing against each other to complete various missions. During May’s State of Play event, we got our first look at the intense gameplay of Concord, and we also learned its retail price.

Concord Confirmed to Release at $40

According to the PlayStation blog, Concord is currently open for pre-order at a price of $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,480 MSRP. This purchase will grant access to 16 playable characters, 12 unique maps, and six different game modes. After release, the game will continuously receive free updates for all players.

The Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99 / ¥6,480 MSRP. Aside from the base game, this version also includes 16 extra cosmetics, one for each Fregunner, and provides early access to Concord’s launch on August 23 for 72 hours.

By pre-ordering the title, you will receive the Monarch Pack of cosmetics and beta access for yourself and four friends. The Monarch Pack is also included in the Digital Deluxe pack, which can be purchased at any time.

In summary, this provides a significant amount of content at a relatively affordable price, particularly when taking into account the extra content that will be offered at no cost.

Is this going to become a new trend in the world of gaming? That remains to be determined. Numerous games continue to thrive financially due to the purchases of new characters and cosmetic items. It is uncertain if Concord will eventually introduce paid cosmetics or even offer additional characters for purchase in the future.

Despite this, games that are sold at a lower price can still generate significant profits due to their accessibility. The mobile platform has proven to be the most lucrative in the gaming industry, partially due to the relatively inexpensive nature of mobile devices compared to consoles and PCs. Although it is unlikely that developers will regularly sell their games at a lower price, considering the costs of production, there may be exceptions such as online games like Helldivers 2.

Despite the ever-growing popularity of online games, there is still a strong appeal and loyal following for those that have been around for years. Sony’s decision to offer Concord at a lower retail price may be a strategic move to attract and build a devoted fanbase like many other successful online games.

Will Concord’s strategy be successful? It is still uncertain, but with the success of Helldivers 2’s low price point, we may see a trend of more games releasing at affordable prices in the future.

During the PlayStation State of Play, we were able to catch a glimpse of Concord for the first time. In addition to that, we also witnessed everything else that was showcased at the event.
