Condom Brand Issues Apology Following The Boyz Eric’s “Pepero Condom” Controversy

Incident Sparks Apologies Following Pepero Day Post by The Boyz’s Eric

On the morning of November 11th, Eric from the popular K-pop group The Boyz took to the group’s official X account to commemorate Pepero Day. However, instead of the expected snack, the image featured condoms cleverly packaged to resemble Pepero boxes.

Realizing the mix-up, Eric swiftly removed the post and addressed his fans, clarifying that he had mistakenly grabbed the product from a convenience store display without understanding what it was.

Manufacturer Responds with Apology

Later that same afternoon, the manufacturer of the condom brand took to Instagram to issue a formal apology for the misunderstanding. They noted, “We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused by this incident.”

The brand elaborated, “This cute product was created for a special event known as LOVE DAY 11.11, specifically to celebrate November 11th. We acknowledge the feedback we received, including comments like ‘I bought it thinking it was Pepero’ and ‘Why make adult products so cute?’ These concerns are valid, and we accept responsibility.”

Shifting Perspectives on Contraception

The company highlighted their commitment to changing perceptions around purchasing and owning contraceptives. They clarified that the condoms included in this promotion are classified as medical devices and are, therefore, accessible to teenagers. “If our product can foster awareness, we are willing to shoulder the consequences of this mix-up,” they stated.

Furthermore, they expressed hope that this incident could promote more open discussions about contraception, encouraging a healthier attitude towards sexual health within society. They reiterated their apologies to anyone who may have been misled by the product’s packaging.

Apologies Extended to Store Managers

In their closing remarks, the company also extended their apologies to the GS25 store managers who may have inadvertently displayed the product in the snack aisle rather than the appropriate section.
