Conor McGregor’s Apology for Postponing UFC 303 Press Conference

The scheduled UFC 303 press conference for Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler in Dublin has been delayed, only 12 hours prior to its intended start time.

Despite McGregor’s scheduled appearance at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland to address the media and public, the event was cancelled before he could promote the fight in his home country.

A statement released by the UFC stated, “To all our loyal UFC supporters, we regret to inform you that the #UFC303 press conference, originally planned for Monday June 3rd at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, has been postponed indefinitely.”

“We extend our sincerest apologies to all the fans who had made arrangements to attend. As soon as we have an update on a rescheduled date and time, we will promptly share it with you. Thank you for your understanding.”

The press conference, which was scheduled to take place at 12pm ET (5pm BST), was postponed with only 12 hours’ notice given.

On the same day, later on, McGregor addressed UFC fans through social media, providing an explanation as to why the press conference in his home country did not occur.

Based on McGregor’s announcement on X, the press conference with Chandler that was eagerly anticipated has been cancelled due to unforeseen challenges beyond our control.

Despite the UFC 303 main event still being on, fans who travelled for the press conference have been disappointed by the short notice given.

Currently, it remains uncertain if the presser will be rescheduled, as McGregor’s use of the term “cancelled”does not bode well for those who were hoping to see him in Ireland.

Despite not having competed in the octagon since suffering a broken leg in his loss to long-time opponent Dustin Poirier in 2021, McGregor, who is 35 years old, was spotted partying last week just weeks before his highly anticipated headlining fight on Saturday, June 29.

It has been confirmed that he will face off against Chandler in the main event for UFC 303 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which will be the final event of International Fight Week. The arena has a capacity of 20,000.

Unfortunately, the card was dealt a major blow when the highly-anticipated co-main event between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr had to be postponed due to Rountree Jr’s positive test for a prohibited substance.

Carlos Ulberg has been brought in to assist with filling the card, replacing Rountree.
