I will assist you in your journey to conquer Guangzhi. Familiarize yourself with the whereabouts of his lair and his fiery assaults, as utilizing these strategies will guarantee your triumph.
1. How To Defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong
The Forest of Wolves section of chapter one in Black Myth: Wukong features an optional boss named Guangzhi. While not particularly fast, Guangzhi wields scorched polearms that strike with lightning speed. However, his attacks can be anticipated and learned, providing opportunities to exploit his brief moments of vulnerability.
By identifying the conclusion of each attack, you can discover opportunities to retaliate safely without sustaining any harm.
1. Location of Guangzhi Boss Fight
To locate Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong, first navigate to Chapter 1: Black Wind Mountain and proceed to the Forest of Wolves area. Once there, make your way to the ‘Outside The Forest’ Keeper’s Shrine and continue forward. Defeat the optional Wandering Wight boss along the way to obtain its spirit.
After defeating the boss, take the western path located between two stone pillars and follow it until you come to an entrance marked by a head statue. Once inside, you will find Guangzhi waiting for you in the center of the area.
Guangzhi Boss Attack Patterns
To successfully conquer the bosses in Black Myth: Wukong, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of their attack patterns. This allows you to predict and anticipate their moves, giving you an advantage in the fight.
Attack | Description |
---|---|
Swipe Combo | Guangzhi unleashes a swift two-part combo, swinging his double-bladed polearm in a wide arc, aiming to catch you off guard. |
Ground Pound | This three-part attack begins with Guangzhi propelling himself into the air using his polearm, followed by a high-flying leap, and culminating in a devastating fire-infused ground-pound attack that causes a massive explosion. |
Extended Fire Combo | Guangzhi initiates a flurry of attacks, using his polearm to unleash a series of overhead and frontal swings, typically consisting of four to five hits. |
Backing Up Spear Throw | When pressured, Guangzhi may fall back while executing a double swipe, concealing a fast, non-tracking spear throw. The spear spins less and moves quicker than his initial throw attack, dealing damage on both the outgoing and returning trajectory. Dodge to the left or right to avoid. |
Spinning Tornado | Guangzhi begins by performing a summersault to the left, signaling the start of a spinning attack. He will then come spinning across the screen, twirling his flaming spear, and follow up with a single spear swing, requiring precise timing to dodge. |
Pole Vault | Guangzhi sticks his spear into the ground, assumes a flag-like position, and spins through the air, attempting to impale you. He will repeat this attack two more times, finishing with a swipe upon dismounting. You can interrupt him during this attack and follow up with a freeze to punish him. |
Charged Dash Slashes | If Guangzhi pauses with his spear held behind him, pointing straight up, he is preparing to charge forward. This quick dash attack has two parts, with the second dealing more damage. You can let the first part hit and save your dodge for the follow-up attack. |
Repeated hits from Guangzhi can result in a stack of fire effects, causing significant damage. Avoiding multiple hits is key in managing his fire procs.
3. Preparing For Battle
Guangzhi skillfully wields a polearm with dual sides that are engulfed in flames, unleashing powerful and aggressive attacks. His techniques tend to follow a predictable pattern, often consisting of three consecutive moves. By closely observing his movements for a brief period, one can predict his major combinations and take advantage of openings to counter his attacks.
Prior to confronting Guangzhi, it would be wise to make preparations by:
- Accumulating Sparks by defeating enemies.
- You can access Foundation and Staff skills from the ‘Self-Advance’ menu by unlocking them.
- Emphasizing the initial Smash Stance.
- By learning techniques such as Resolute Counterflow and Force Unbound, one can gain an upper hand.
The difficulty of this battle is due to its early occurrence, which restricts the available attack strategies. Yet, utilizing a Spirit and obtaining a skill at the beginning of the game can greatly influence the result. If you find yourself underpowered, you can always come back to this fight at a later time.
4. Combat Tactics
Guangzhi starts the fight with a charge, then proceeds to perform jumping spin attacks from opposite directions. These can be avoided by jumping over them.
- Charge your heavy attack using both Focus Points to stagger the boss.
- Utilize your Immobilize spell when close to Guangzhi to save time and quickly land attacks.
- If you are caught on fire, roll three times to extinguish it.
- Dodge three swipes and then land a heavy attack.
- Be careful of delayed attacks, as rushing to dodge may result in leaving yourself open to his subsequent attacks.
When Guangzhi reaches half of his health, he suddenly unleashes a new, bold aerial moveset that includes:
- Aerial Spin: Guangzhi propels himself upwards, swiftly air-dashes towards you, and rotates as he approaches. Evade his attack and retaliate with powerful strikes.
- Execute Two Swipes and Run: Use a staggering attack, reserve Immobilize for this move, and follow up with powerful counter attacks.
Overcommitting is a surefire way to meet your demise. The enemy’s retreats are often a deliberate tactic to bait you into a deadly spin, dash, or throw. Avoid spamming dodge or heavy attacks, as they will only lead to your demise. Instead, strategize and time your moves precisely to emerge victorious.
5. Rewards for Beating the Boss
After defeating Guangzhi, interact with the scorched polearms to unlock the Red Tides spell in Black Myth Wukong. This will enable your character to transform into Guangzhi and inherit some of his moves, such as:
- Light attack: Moon Dance
- Heavy attack: Moon Chase
It should be noted that a complete Might gauge is necessary for transformation.
- During transformation, the Might bar depletes slowly, but landing heavy and special attacks speeds up the depletion.
- Additionally, de-transformation occurs when the Might gauge is empty, or the transformed guai’s health is depleted due to damage.
- You can manually initiate the de-transformation process if necessary as well.
All in all, acquiring the Red Tides spell and assuming the form of Guangzhi can greatly enhance your arsenal, providing you with fresh attacks and skills to defeat your adversaries.
May the Destined One’s path be enlightened by wisdom, courage, and victory.
