A sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 title, Control, is now officially underway at Remedy Entertainment. Here’s a comprehensive overview of what we know about Control 2, including recent developments and insights.
Control blends elements of sci-fi action and psychological horror, centering around a clandestine U. S.government agency that investigates bizarre paranormal activities. While the game features stylistic parallels to Remedy’s earlier works such as Alan Wake and Quantum Break, it establishes its own unique identity within the gaming landscape.
The announcement for this sequel was made in June 2021. Subsequent to that, in November 2022, Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games formalized their collaboration to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, which had originally been referred to as Codename Heron.
However, pivotal changes occurred in February 2024, when Remedy secured complete rights to the Control franchise, including all associated titles like FBC: Firebreak. This transfer of ownership emphasizes Remedy’s commitment to expanding the Control universe.

Release Date for Control 2
Currently, there is no official release date for Control 2.
In their February 2025 financial report, Remedy detailed that Control 2 has successfully finalized its production readiness stage and transitioned to full production by the end of Q4 in February 2025. They noted that, “the project has verified the velocity of asset creation, established production pipelines, and is ready for scaling up for production.”
Platforms for Control 2
At this moment, no specific platforms have been officially confirmed for the launch of Control 2. Nevertheless, it is widely anticipated that the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Given the timeline, it is possible that the game could align with future advancements in console technology.

Exploring Gameplay and Setting
Control’s narrative unfolds within the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secretive agency engaged in managing occurrences that defy the natural laws of reality. The game draws significant inspiration from the community-driven SCP Foundation, which features collaborative horror storytelling.
In the original title, players harness supernatural abilities to confront and secure various breached phenomena. The game exists within the Remedy Connected Universe, further intertwined with the narratives of other titles like Alan Wake, all showcasing ordinary characters grappling with extraordinary forces.
While it remains uncertain whether Control 2 will weave into the storyline of Alan Wake 2, the potential for interconnectivity exists, especially considering the Lake House DLC, which spotlighted an FBC agent exploring a bureau facility.
