Controversial Idol-Turned-Farmer Updates on Poor Harvest: 'All Corns Were Rotten'
Kim Hyun Joong

After gaining recognition for his roles in “Boys Over Flowers”and “Playful Kiss,”Kim Hyun Joong became a well-known idol-actor in Asia. His popularity at the time was comparable to that of Lee Min Ho and Jang Geun Seuk.

Despite being in the spotlight, his reputation suffered in 2014 when he was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. She alleged that he was responsible for her miscarriage and abortion, leading to a loss of his prominent position.

Despite having a son in the midst of the case, Hyun Joong denied paternity and refused to provide child support for 8 years. However, a DNA test eventually confirmed that the child was indeed his biological son.

Despite his efforts to revive his career, Kim ultimately lost the trust of his fans in 2017 due to his involvement in a DUI case.

In May of this year, Kim Hyun Joong, a former member of SS501 who has since become an actor, caused a stir when he revealed his decision to embark on a new journey as a farmer in a rural location.

Despite this being a respectable job, netizens mocked him because they were surprised that the once larger-than-life “Prince of Hallyu Wave”had to do manual labor.

Three months ago, Kim had high hopes when he first planted his crops. Recently, on Aug. 28th, he shared an update on his farming life through a new vlog on his YouTube channel.

In the video, Kim Hyun Joong expressed his embarrassment at the entrance, which resembled a jungle due to the overgrown weeds, by saying:

“Isn’t the land so bad? The entrance to my land is gone.”

After inspecting his crops, the idol-actor became panicked and exclaimed:

“The corn is almost dead. This is inedible. It’s mini corn. What should I do?”

Fortunately, the tomatoes he had planted grew and upon seeing this, he felt a glimmer of hope and declared:

“I guess I’m made for tomato farming. What should I do when all the corn is dead?”

The village head consoled the novice farmer and provided an explanation:

“It’s not dead, it’s because you missed the harvest season. If you plant the corn during dense season, there will be less weeds.”

As he searched through the cornfield, he came across a section of good corn that he decided to harvest first. However, upon inspection, he was taken aback to find that the corn was either rotten, partially eaten, or infested with bugs.

A significant portion of it also could not reach its full size, leaving Kim with no choice but to dispose of it all.

At the conclusion of his first harvest as a farmer, he expressed regret as he reflected on his experience, saying:

“Why did they grow like that? It’s kind of empty.”
