Despite completing a major quest, players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have expressed frustration over the fact that they can only recruit one companion late in the game.
Despite the fact that Baldur’s Gate 3 features a diverse group of companions, each with their own unique personalities that make them stand out, the community has expressed concern that not all of them are receiving equal levels of attention.
The issue with certain companions in the game is that some of them have limited content, while others require a significant amount of time before they can be recruited. In the case of Halsin, you must complete a significant quest in Act 2 before he becomes available to join your party.
Despite Minsc’s popularity, he is not easily accessible in Baldur’s Gate. In order to recruit him, you must keep Jaheira alive and locate him in a specific area. This process has been deemed as a major flaw by one user in a Reddit thread, who argues that Minsc’s availability in Act 3 is the game’s biggest mistake – a sentiment shared by many other players.

One user commented that it was indeed ridiculous. They also mentioned that obtaining him in Act 3 was so late that it wasn’t worth the effort to train him and incorporate him into the group, even if one was willing to replace another member.
Another individual expressed: “It can be frustrating to recruit companions so late in the game. While they may be great characters, it becomes more challenging to strategize and incorporate them into your gameplay since you’ve already progressed through half or more of the game without them.”
In addition, another user pointed out that not only do you have to complete Act 3, but you also have to complete a significant portion of it. They speculated that the character likely has a large number of lines in Act 3 that the majority of players will never hear.
After recruiting Minsc, one player chimed in, “Right after that, it was just one quest and the end of the game. Wtf man.”Other players in the comments went as far as to suggest that it would have been better if Minsc had not been made a recruitable companion at all, considering the circumstances.
Despite the enormity of Act 3 in the game, there are numerous buildings and secret areas to discover. With such a vast amount of content, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the multitude of quests and potentially overlook the opportunity to recruit Minsc. Additionally, the success of the Moonrise Tower raid and the survival of Jaheira are crucial in being able to recruit Minsc.
