Controversial Developers of The Day Before Launch New Kickstarter with Recovery Strategy

The developers of The Day Before have made a comeback after the controversy surrounding their game and the studio’s shutdown, unveiling a new Kickstarter project alongside a comprehensive “recovery” plan.

In case you missed it, The Day Before was created by Fntastic, and its development journey was fraught with challenges, ultimately leading to disappointment among players upon its release. Issues like asset-flipping and severe bugs prompted many to label the game a “scam.”

Fast forward about nine months since the permanent closure of the game’s servers, and The Day Before developers are back. This time, they have introduced a “Plan for Recovery” along with a Kickstarter campaign for a fresh title.

In a recent blog post, the team stated: “Everyone deserves a second chance. We deeply apologize to everyone for The Day Before and take full responsibility for what happened.”

The plan outlines the team’s “strategic objectives for 2024-2025,” alongside upcoming changes. As part of their initiative, the developers have invited players to “help Fntastic return” and disclosed a Kickstarter project for a game titled Escape Factory.

This new game is described as a “physics-based multiplayer co-op” experience set in “dangerous factories” that accommodates 4-8 players. In terms of gameplay, it resembles Fall Guys, featuring various obstacles and platforming challenges.

Backers interested in supporting this venture can start their pledges from just $3 for exclusive titles, all the way up to $12,000 for special benefits including credit in the game and dinner with the founders, among other rewards.

The development team hopes to release the full version of Escape Factory by December 2024, although this timeline could extend into January or February 2025 in case of any technical difficulties.

To avoid repeating previous mistakes, the developers assured in their FAQs that they are committed to “honest marketing, actively engaging with the community through our Discord channel, providing development progress updates, and conducting beta tests prior to the official launch.”
