Twitch streamer Agent sparked a heated online discussion by asserting that being a professional esports player is more challenging than certain Olympic sports.
The 2024 Paris Olympics are currently taking place, as elite athletes from all over the world compete in a global tournament showcasing their abilities and physical prowess.
Despite being widely regarded as the pinnacle of athletic competition, there are individuals who argue that the sports featured in the esteemed event are not as challenging as they are often portrayed to be.
AMP co-founder Agent00, also referred to as ‘Agent,’ is a well-known streamer on Twitch with nearly 2 million followers on his channel. Similar to other broadcasters, he livestreams a diverse range of content such as video games, Just Chatting, and real-life adventures.
During a stream on August 6, Agent sparked a debate among his audience with his statement: “I believe that being a professional gamer is probably more challenging than curling or bobsledding.”
“I am also being completely serious,”he added. “I firmly stand by my statement. I was attempting to come up with additional examples, but I exhausted all Olympic sports that were on my mind.”

It should be mentioned that these are exclusively Winter Olympic events and are not a part of the Summer Games, which showcases disciplines such as gymnastics, footraces, swimming, and other sports.
The statement made by the agent has ignited a significant discussion on social media. Some netizens have shown support for his stance, while others have been astonished by his views on the Olympic Games.
“Is it harder than sports?”one Twitter user from the handle @thatboiharley asked, referencing a tweet from X. “Think about how many kids excel at gaming and are extremely skilled at it.”
“One person mentioned that participating in the Olympics and playing video games are two completely different experiences.”
Some argued in defense that athletes could never win a CS2 1-5 with a planted bomb on Dust 2, as evidenced by one individual’s statement.
Some individuals also criticized Agent for allegedly attempting to imitate FaZe Lacy, a well-known streamer who sparked controversy by stating that being an online entertainer is more challenging than traditional occupations.
“It’s important for you all to realize that streaming is much more challenging,”he explained. “I have to constantly be on the move, interacting with people and trying to outshine everyone. Building and honing those social skills can be tough.”

Agent and Lacy are not the only streamers to have made such a controversial statement. Back in February 2024, popular Twitch personality Hasan also shared similar views, which were supported by other broadcasters such as Asmongold.
According to Hasan, while a real job may be exhausting and unpleasant, it does not drain one’s soul in the same way that streaming for nine hours straight does.
The situation sparked a series of responses to Hasan’s remarks, and it is evident that this debate will continue for the foreseeable future.
