On September 8, the Global ARMY Alliance, representing 127 organizations across 58 countries and fans of BTS, released a statement in support of Suga.
They stated, “We clearly express that the anti-fans hiding behind anonymity to ostracize a member do not represent ARMY,” adding, “The Global ARMY Alliance supports BTS as seven members.”
In relation to Suga, who faces charges for drunk driving, the alliance remarked, “We do not demand more responsibility than what will result from due legal process,” urging the media to halt the spread of unverified claims.
Following Suga’s arrest for drunk driving, a faction of fans called for his departure, raising concerns about his potential to hinder BTS’s anticipated comeback after their military service in June next year. However, the fan alliance warned that such calls could create a divide between BTS and their fanbase.
