Despite allegations of ignoring BABYMONSTER, BLACKPINK Jisoo’s loyal fanbase of BLINKs quickly rushed to her defense.
In the online forum Nate Pann, Jisoo received negative comments from Korean netizens for mentioning MEOVV and her fellow member Ella Gross on her personal Instagram account.
On August 2nd, THEBLACKLABEL, YG’s subsidiary agency, announced the first member of their debut girl group through their official social media accounts.
In the recently revealed photo, the recognizable visage of Ella Gross was visible. She first gained recognition as a well-known child model and “ulzzang,”and her stunning appearance quickly gained popularity on the internet.
THEBLACKLABEL also unveiled a debut trailer video in which she left a lasting impression with her captivating facial expressions and powerful acting.
As soon as the clip was released, Ella received an overwhelming response from K-pop fans, and even reached the number one spot on YouTube’s trending video chart.
Additionally, not only did the rookie receive support from the K-pop community, but she also received a shoutout from BLACKPINK’s Jisoo on her Instagram story.
The worldwide sensation of K-pop shared Ella’s debut trailer and mentioned their official accounts, demonstrating their enduringly close bond.
Prior to becoming an idol trainee, Ella was often referred to as “Little Jennie”due to her striking resemblance to the famous singer. She was a dedicated fan of BLACKPINK and greatly admired all four members, who also held her in high regard.
The act of Jisoo tagging Ella on SNS was innocent, however some individuals expressed their discontent with the idol’s apparent favoritism towards MEOVV while supposedly neglecting BABYMONSTER since their debut. It should be noted that BABYMONSTER is YG’s first girl group in six years, following the debut of BLACKPINK.
The original poster (OP) asserted:
“BLACKPINK didn’t mention BABYMONSTER, but she promoted MEOVV right away. It seems like the real “BLACKPINK’s little sister”is Teddy’s girl group.”
After being uploaded, the article quickly gained over 90,000 views. The majority of internet users expressed their disagreement with the article and proceeded to defend Jisoo in the comments.
Some BLINKs argued that the idol is not responsible for managing BAEMON’s social media and therefore, does not have a duty to promote the team.
It was also clarified that Jisoo’s support for Ella’s debut in the group was based on their previous close relationship, similar to that of siblings.
Below are a few of the remarks:
“This is really absurd. BLACKPINK and Ella have been friends since they were young. When BLACKPINK’s song came out and (Jisoo) made her solo debut, Ella even uploaded it on her Instagram story; When we’re close, do you think it’s weird that she uploads it? Don’t be sarcastic for no reason.”
“No, Ella has been close with BLACKPINK since she was 9 years old, and when Ella was young, she was like their younger sister and did live broadcasts with BLACKPINK. She and Rosé also went to an amusement park together, and they have remained close ever since.
Ella celebrates their birthdays, comes to their concerts, and promotes their solos. They have been doing well up until recently, so I guess (Jisoo) promotes them, too. What’s wrong with promoting someone you’re close with?”
In the meantime, MEOVV, THEBLACKLABEL’s inaugural girl group, is set to make their debut in the month of September.
