On June 17th, Cube made an announcement on Weverse regarding the recruitment of fan supporters for (G)I-DLE. The notice stated that the offline fan supporter positions would be open for application from June 17th until they are filled, however, the exact number of positions was not revealed.
(G)I-DLE fan supporters are responsible for overseeing public broadcast platforms and organizing events for the fan club. To be eligible, one must possess an official membership to the (G)I-DLE fan club, be at least 20 years old, and have the availability to participate in offline activities without any scheduling conflicts. It is also required to maintain confidentiality about fan club operations and not be involved in any other artist’s fan club as a supporter or executive.
Essentially, the announcement is seeking fan club members to assist with organizing public broadcast events in which the group will be involved.
The announcement quickly triggered a negative response from fans who expressed their disapproval of the concept of enlisting fans to volunteer at event venues without compensation. They argued that this practice is outdated and unsuitable for the modern age.
Comments regarding communities focused on entertainment raised concerns such as the lack of site management, the exploitation of fans for unpaid labor, outdated announcements, and the expectation for members to participate offline without compensation. Some questioned if these communities were seeking to recruit unpaid workers who would be at their beck and call, keep their secrets, and blindly follow their orders.
Additionally, a few fans voiced their worries that the agency’s mishandling could potentially harm (G)I-DLE’s reputation.
