Controversy Surrounding Hawk Tuah’s Cursing of Mets Baseball Team After Throwing First Pitch

Hawk Tuah’s 15 minutes of fame are ongoing, as she was recently invited to make the first pitch at a Mets game on August 15. However, some MLB fans have expressed concerns that the baseball team may be cursed after her appearance on their diamond.

Ever since her ‘Tim & Dee TV’ YouTube interview in June, Haliey Welch, who is popularly known as the viral Hawk Tuah girl, has received numerous invitations to attend special events.

Despite initially feeling embarrassed to leave her house after going viral, Haliey has now fully embraced the opportunities that have come her way.

On August 15, I had the opportunity to throw the first pitch at the New York Mets vs Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball game.

Despite appearing to enjoy being a part of the tradition, which is also participated in by celebrities, netizens criticized the encounter as “pathetic.”

One person also expressed their disapproval on X, exclaiming “Disgusting! Do better Mets!”

“What a disgrace,” said another.

A third person questioned, “What the f*ck are we doing?”

Certain MLB fans went as far as to accuse Hawk Tuah girl of putting a curse on the Mets. “It’s a done deal. We’ll see you again in 2025,”stated one individual.

Another person concurred, saying, “If that’s not a curse, then I’m not sure what is.”

Despite the controversy, one MLB fan managed to find humor in the situation, quipping, “Did she perhaps throw a ‘spitball’?”

Some also noted that Haliey broke tradition by throwing the first pitch to her friend Chelsea Bradford instead of an official Mets player, as is typically done.

One person ridiculed the fact that none of the Met players wanted to catch for her.

During her trip to Erewhon this August, Hawk Tuah girl has also faced criticism for mistaking dog food for human food and being left to deal with the consequences on her own.

Despite labeling herself the “meme queen”on X and sharing multiple attempts at creating memes, she faced criticism for not understanding what a meme actually is.

Despite potentially offending some baseball fans with her first pitch, Haliey is not alone in receiving criticism after being invited to an MLB stadium as a celebrity.

In 2013, the MLB deemed Carly Rae Jepsen’s first pitch as one of the worst ever, with her performance of the song ‘Call Me Maybe’ receiving criticism for its execution.
