Despite Pokemon Go’s previous event mishaps, the community has recently criticized Niantic for their handling of the current Global Challenge, stating that it has gone too far.
Starting from Friday, August 23, Niantic launched their most recent Global Challenge which required the community to hatch 20,000,000 Eggs before August 30. However, although the progress is not as fast as many fans had hoped, the nature of the challenge has left players feeling both frustrated and once again, criticizing Niantic.
Expressing their frustration on the Pokemon Go subreddit, a user shared the news that it is unlikely for the community to complete the challenge. They stated, “Niantic, I hate to burst your bubble, but let’s be realistic here… there’s no way we can achieve this. But I appreciate your enthusiasm.”

Despite numerous frustrated comments, many expressed their dislike for the task’s requirements. Incubators are necessary for hatching eggs, but without purchasing them, most players will only have access to one, making the process incredibly slow. This is particularly challenging if a 12km egg is accidentally obtained.
Many people deemed the event a “Global money making challenge,”while others dismissed it as “impossible”and simply a ploy to entice players into purchasing more incubators.
Despite the incubator being present, many turned their attention to the catchable Pokemon and expressed dissatisfaction with the selection: “If they truly wanted us to participate, they would have included better options in the eggs. But instead, it’s 95% garbage and not worth using incubators for.”
One fan commented, “This is just ridiculous. Are they seriously expecting us to do a quarter of the number of EGGS as we do ROCKET BATTLES? And somehow, we have to do it faster than before? Who’s excited for the Triumph Together Makeup Event?”
The last event for Makeup was a huge success, with numerous fans receiving free Ultra Beasts as rewards. This is why fans are eagerly anticipating the next event.
Despite making good progress towards finishing the task, many are unable to fully enjoy the challenge due to the insufficient availability of incubators, underwhelming hatch results, and the perceived financial motivations of Niantic that they are criticizing.
