Controversy Surrounds Hanwha Eagles’ New Infinity Pool Feature

The Hanwha Eagles’ new home stadium initiated a three-day trial for its innovative “infinity pool”zone starting July 1. However, the experience has been less than ideal for some fans located in the third-base section directly beneath the pool, as they reported unexpected issues stemming from water splashes.

Hanwha Life Ballpark infinity pool complaints

One spectator expressed their frustration on social media, stating, “If someone gets too excited in the pool, people below get drenched. It was stressful and unpleasant to be hit by soapy water where others had just been swimming.” This sentiment was echoed by others who experienced similar discomfort.

Additionally, complaints have emerged regarding the slippery floors caused by pool users dripping water from their swimsuits, which created hazardous conditions. Spectators were also bothered by the lingering chlorine odor that accompanied the splash zone, contributing to an overall uncomfortable environment.

Repair Efforts and Future Considerations

In light of these issues, the Hanwha Eagles promptly addressed the situation by conducting repairs on July 3 to mitigate water leakage from the pool. They have also installed temporary drainage solutions beneath the area. The organization noted that the pool’s feature is still in its pilot phase, indicating that it is too early to determine its long-term viability. They have committed to implementing further safety improvements.

Since its opening in March, Hanwha Life Ballpark has encountered several challenges, including steep seating gradients, obstructed views, and insufficient accommodations for fans with disabilities. A noteworthy incident last month saw a foul ball shatter a window at a restaurant within the park, prompting the installation of protective safety netting.

Prioritizing Safety and Comfort

While the infinity pool is an exciting addition aimed at enhancing the fan experience, the growing list of grievances raises pressing questions about whether the focus on novelty is compromising fan comfort and safety. Stakeholders will be keenly monitoring how the Eagles address these concerns moving forward.
