Corrupted planets are one of the Interceptor Update’s highlights. To find them, open the galaxy map and search for a new sort of system. When you hover over a system, you’ll see its description, which normally includes a reference to an element like water. Corrupted planets can only be found in systems with the ‘Dissonant’ description. They are more prevalent than you think, so go find one, make a path to it, and warp to it.

You must scan every planet in the Dissonant system until you discover one with the ‘Corrupted Sentinels’ description attached. The level of Sentinel activity has nothing to do with whether or not a planet is corrupted. If you don’t see Corrupted Sentinels listed, the planet is probably not corrupted.

These worlds are usually corrupted, and everything has a peculiar purple tinge to it. These planets also contain all of the additional materials added to No Man’s Sky with the Interceptor Update, which are required for upgrading your Interceptor spaceship. Of course, you’ll run into Corrupted Sentinels here, nasty opponents who may sneak up on you while harvesting the planet’s rich purple crystals.

Sentinel Interceptor ships are wrecked ships employed by Sentinels that have crashed on corrupted planets as a result of the purple crystals’ impacts. Before claiming one of these ships, you can find it in one of three ways. To locate a wrecked Sentinel Interceptor spacecraft, you can either battle Sentinels in space until the Sentinel Capital Ship is destroyed, attack Corrupted Sentinels on a corrupted planet until the final wave is completed, or utilize an Echo Locator.

Corrupted Sentinels are a new opponent class that can be found on corrupted worlds. You don’t have to search far to find them picking a fight. Pick up a valuable item, such as a Gravitino Ball, to avoid triggering a swarm. You can also locate a Dissonance Resonator. Corrupted Sentinels guard these machines, so if you seek hard enough, you’ll find many to battle.

If you’re fighting Corrupted Sentinels, we recommend having plenty of ammunition and, at the absolute least, a Boltcaster. These opponents will hide in plain sight and attack you from the side or rear, using adaptive camouflage. When you’re not sure if there’s one nearby, look for the purple glow of these robots and fire at it. Because the drones heal every other machine, they are the best targets to eliminate first.

Corrupted Sentinels drop resources like Atlantideum when killed, but the huge quadrupeds can also drop an Echo Locator. They can be used to locate Harmonic Camps, where you will receive a wonderful new Multi-Tool.

How to find Dissonance Resonators

Dissonance Resonators can be found on corrupted planets, but you won’t find them. You must seek them out. Check out the sites of interest around you using your scanner. One should stand out as a new icon and be identified as a Dissonance Resonator. They are normally a few hundred U away from your current location, so board a ship or Exocraft and get there.

Corrupted Sentinels protect the dissonant Resonators. These points of interest are a wonderful method to engage these new machine variations in combat, but the actual usefulness is in eliminating the devices themselves. Inverted Mirrors are found in Dissonance Resonators and are utilized to gain entry to a crashed Interceptor Starship. If you find one, take it out so you don’t have to do as much legwork later on.

What do you do with the new resources from the Interceptor Update?

On ruined planets, you can harvest two additional resources. They are Atlantideum and Radiant Shards, respectively. Atlantideum can be mined from the smaller purple crystals on these worlds, however Radiant Shards require an Advanced Mining Laser Upgrade. The applications for these resources are listed below.

  • Atlantideum: This valuable resource appears to be more valuable than any other. But, like everything else in No Man’s Sky, it’s probably helpful for creating or refining in some way.
  • Radiant Shards: Radiant Shards are used to bypass the security systems of wrecked Interceptor starships, allowing you to begin the process of claiming them as your own.
  • Crystallised Heart: This appears to be another precious item that may be sold for hundreds of thousands of units. It may, however, be valuable in the creation of some items.
  • Inverted Mirror: This equipment is essential for rescuing a crashed Interceptor spaceship.
