Could Shadow Lugia be the Highlight of Pokemon Go’s Season of Makeup Events?

“Pokemon enthusiasts flooded the streets in search of a rare Legendary Pokemon during the Adventure Week Takeover event, however, not everything went according to plan.”

In a similar manner as the Mega Rayquaza incidents, the Adventure Week: Taken Over 5-star Raids have caused confusion within the community regarding Shadow Lugia.

Social media and community forums were inundated with reports of Shadow Lugia being impossible to defeat on the 10th and 11th of August. Players shared their struggles with overcoming the ‘mon once the Enrage mechanic was activated.

After the issues became apparent, Niantic utilized X to inform the community that Shadow Lugia would not be Enraged for the rest of the weekend. They also promised an update for Trainers in the GMT +14 to 10 timezones who were affected by this issue. As expected, this response has been a widely discussed topic among the community.

Niantic’s response to the problems surrounding Shadow Lugia was discussed in a community forum, where numerous players expressed their disappointment with the event and the official statement. Some vented their frustration over the event’s shortcomings, while others were curious about what steps would be taken to address the issues.

Expecting a makeup event similar to the successful Rayquaza re-do, one Pokemon Go player humorously dubbed the Shared Skies season the “Season of Makeup Events.”

Some also shared the same sentiment, with one reader commenting, “I’m not complaining lol their makeup events are actually better than the full events lol.”

Several readers commended the removal of the Enrage mechanic, noting its significant improvement in the Raid weekend for players.

One individual expressed their opinion on Enraged Pokemon, stating, “It’s good, but why not remove the entire feature?”Meanwhile, another proposed, “Alternatively, gems could be changed to a debuff that amplifies damage dealt to the boss, allowing for small group raids to be encouraged for in-person play.”

Despite a few players expressing interest in a potential makeup Shadow Lugia Raid event, some praised Niantic for their prompt resolution while others were clearly fed up with recurring issues in Pokemon Go events.

One player expressed frustration, saying, “Why does every single event have to be plagued with such major errors? Is it even worth asking at this point? It’s comical but I can’t help but feel sorry for those who keep getting hit with these problems.”

Although there has been no official mention or hint from Niantic about a makeup event, it is possible that they may schedule something on the calendar to address the issues with the Shadow Lugia Raid.
