Cristin Milioti stars as Sofia Falcone, a formidable mob boss in The Penguin. Nearly a decade ago, she landed her first significant role in The Sopranos.
Milioti is perhaps best recognized for her portrayal of Tracy McConnell, the titular mother in How I Met Your Mother. Her impressive resume also includes performances in Palm Springs, The Wolf of Wall Street, and the acclaimed Black Mirror episode titled USS Callister (a role she is set to reprise in Season 7 next year).
Before her iconic role in The Penguin, Milioti had a brief yet memorable appearance in The Sopranos as Catherine Sacrimoni, the youngest daughter of Johnny Sack.
Although her role was small, appearing in just three episodes during the final season, being part of one of the greatest and most binge-worthy TV series of all time is still a remarkable achievement.

“Sopranos was my first time on a set. It was my first job, and I didn’t know the show because I couldn’t afford HBO. So I knew it was a big deal but I’d never actually seen it,” she revealed to MovieZine.
“I didn’t watch it until two years ago, and it turns out it’s the best show of all time. That was a fun discovery.”
Milioti is not alone in her early career appearances in The Sopranos; other notable stars like Paul Dano (known for playing The Riddler in The Batman), Will Arnett, Michael B. Jordan, and Lady Gaga also had brief roles in the series.
As one X/Twitter user pointed out, “The inverse ‘curse’ of Sopranos was that the careers of minor characters exploded compared to the main cast.”
Sofia Falcone represents arguably Milioti’s most significant role to date. In a press conference, she expressed that it has been “an incredible dream… because so much happens to her.”
“I’m also a lifelong Batman fan. So I’ve been dreaming of this since I was very young. On a personal level, it was extremely surreal. As an actor, I would read each script and I would pinch myself because of how thrilling it was to discover all of these aspects about Sofia.
“I couldn’t believe that I was meant to play this role. I felt this way about the entire show, but there were many moments in Episode 4, especially when I put on that uniform, that made me incredibly excited. That was one of my favorite scenes I’ve ever filmed.”
